Did anyone do anything special for Imbolc?

My daughter is named after the goddess Brighid and since Imbolc is her day we chose this day to do our daughter's blessing/wicanning and dedicate her to the goddess Brighid. It was a beautiful ritual and or family will never forget it :)

I have five kids, lol. and am single...
Anyway, my mother was with us for Imbolc so we went to the Avebury standing stones for the open Gorsedd. It was freezing cold, but it was a good time. (If you add me, you can see some of the pictures...)

Six kids! Go Annmarie, yer my hero! i'm up to my armpits with 4. We all need the inspiration of Brigid's fire at this time of year don't we. I miss my temple the most at sabbats, especially Imbolc which is smnaller and more intimate. Both my teacher and I had a soft spot for Brigid. Is maith lion ag a Bhrigid! It's so hard to get anything done by yourself when you're a single mom. I'm glad I at least have this group to touch base with once and a while and feel connected, however little it is.

It's a very strange thing Denyse, my birthday is on the 23rd December and I dislike it being so near Christmas as it gets over looked (not as much as my poor 3yr olds, which is on the 26th, but that's a whole different community!). I almost resent christmas for overshadowing my birthday, yet I feel honoured that it's so near the midwinter solstice, especially as it's such a positive sabbat. I don't think it's because christmas isn't a festival of my chosen religion because we're all aware many of the christian festival dates were chosen as they were near to the festival dates of "the old ways". Like I say, it's just bizarre.

My daughter's birthday is on Imbolc, so we always acknowledge that her bday is on a Sabbat.  Was very snowy and cold here, though so we didn't go out much.  I really want to start doing circles with my kids, but I need to add a few more hours to each day first.

I think I did something special.  I cleaned my whole house the 2 days before and lit candles all over the house singing the fire chant and dancing with my toddler.  I made a corn dolly (technically out of long grass stalks from my backyard) and an acron wand and my daughter played with it in a tub of sand, making designs and such.  We sang songs to Brighid and ate ice cream.  I had a lot of fun actually, even though it was just me and my baby.

Sounds pretty!

We did Imbolc early with my coven as it was the night before I left Louisiana to move to Colorado. It was a beautiful ritual, done outside (ah, the benefits of doing ritual in Louisiana in winter).

Imbolc is kind of my special sabbat - Bride is the aspect of the Lady that first really called me to my path, so it's always a special day!!
