How can I explain to my son about Samhain before his teacher has a Halloween party at school?

I am worried that my son will not understand the difference between that girl in his class wearing a pointy hat and black robes with a green face complete with a long nose and fake wart and Mommy and Daddy praying to the Goddess, holding Sabbat rituals with the coven, and finding joy in honoring our ancestors. My son has had the joy of participating in many coven rituals in the past but this is his first time having a Halloween party at school where the children are allowed to dress up. Any insight would be helpful! Many thanks and blessed be!

Just explain the difference.
The term *witch* applies to different things.Maybe give examples of different types of witches (Wizard of Oz, Charmed, real pagans (perhaps from your coven))
Explain that certain types of witches are real, and certain types of witches are made up.
You can use superheros as another example.
Firefighters are real life superheroes, while Superman is a made up superhero.
He may relate to the superhero example a bit better (what kid doesn't like superheros? :P)
But I would just explain the difference in a age appropriate way.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

Zachary is 5. He went to daycare prior to kindergarten but they were never allowed to dress up.
