I saw that story too, my daughter glance to see what little girl was saying that botox hurts and now i need a child sociologist to help my daughter get through her fear of getting botox done on both of her legs

But please don't get me wrong, I think it's disgusting what the mother did & when someone first compared the 2 I was thinking well you can't compare them, there is no comparison, but being the person I am I just wanted to hear what others thoughts were on the topic!

I guess there is no wrong or right answer as everyone has different opinions. I don't agree with her injecting her daughter with botox, I was just amazed how quickly everyone (myself included) became outraged with what she had done! Yet it is so 'normal' for mums to take their babies into shops and willingly let someone shove an earring in their earlobes!
And ear piercing can close up, but they still scar.
And botox may only last up to 6 months. Everywhere I look to reasons why they can't be compared, someone will compare it for me.

Konni, they are NOT on the same level. Injecting a toxin into a child is far, far worse than making a hole in her ear! (Although I personally think it would be more acceptable to wait until the child is old enough to have her own opinion re ear piercing).



Apart from the physical aspect - injecting a toxin, for heaven's sake! there is the psychological issue of teaching your child to cheat, teaching your child that beauty is everyhing, that we are judged by beauty alone. Think of the damage to that child's self-image! That's the reason the two can't be compared.



Yes, an infected ear is horrible - I've had one, after deciding, as an adult to have my ears pierced. That happened because I didn't take care of my piercing properly, so it was my own fault.



But an ear piercing can grow over.

Well really they are on the same level, it just depends how you want to look at it. They both pierce the child's skin, they are both done because the mother decides to do it, and yes botox has chemicals in it, but an infected ear isn't too pleasant either.
I agree that they can't really be compared but Im yet to come across a satisfactory reason as to why!

I saw that story and thought I would be sick! I saw on the news a few days after she announced her pathetic parenting habits that she was arrested - I am glad she was stupid enough to tell the world. She needs more than parenting classes and I really hope that her child will get some counseling so she understand that she is beautiful and doesn't need to change who she is or how she looks. I also pray that there hasn't been any physical damage to her little body.

yeah, I heard this, the child has been taken away from the mother while they investigate.

It's fucked up though. That poor kid. And it just drives me crazy when overweight mothers (like the one in question) put all this pressure on their kids to have a perfect physical appearance. I mean, come on! Why don't you lose some weight and improve your own appearance in a healthy way that you can actually control instead of projecting all your insecurities on your 8 year old child? Blech. I hate when pageant moms are morbidly obese. Stop buying $4000 dollar dresses for your kid and buy some freaking fruit and keep it in your house.

Sorry. That's my little rant. And I'm not talking like, 40 or 50 pounds overweight. I'm talking freaking obese.

I heard on the news tonight the mom made the whole story up because whatever show she was on offered her a lot of money to.



The child was taken into custody and taken to a dr who was able to determine that botox was never used on the child.

I know a woman who consented for Botox to be used on her then 3yr old daughter. Mind you, her daughter has sever CP and the botox was used therapeutically for her muscles, NOT in her face. THAT is why botox should be used on a child, for actual MEDICAL use, not for cosmetic use.

The Botox story was shocking, for sure. There's no question in my mind that it's abusive.

I'm left wondering why piercing a child's ears is ok? At least the Botox will wear off!

I got as far as the words "Beuty pageant" and then just rolled my eye's. Not all those mother's are crazy, but the ones you hear about sure are. I wouldnt' be surprised if this mother pushed the idea on her daughter; and made it sound like it was her daughter's choice. There was some mother on Dr Phil who insisted her 2 year old wanted painful braces etc to have better teeth for her beuty pageants. claiming she would cry over the pain of them; yet she asked for them herself. What 2 year old does that? I don't believe any beauty pageant mother who does crazy things like this and claims its the kids choice.

I couldn't watch all of it. That is just completely horrific. There is no reason in the world for this mother to give her daughter botox! The child couldn't even remember why she was getting them! That should say something right there! I'm disgusted with this. I can't imagine anybody doing something like this to their child. This is why I will never put my child in a beauty pagent.

I saw this story too. I could not believe it. I wouldn't even call her a mother she is treating her daughter like she isn't beautiful. i mean come on BOTOX!!! Really? It is very clear that a doctor wouldn't do this because she was getting the stuff off the black market.
I realize that these pagents are made for some kids and their moms. Not my cup of tea but it is something that people do enjoy doing with their daughters. But were do we draw the line. This is so far over the line of teaching beauty tricks.
