Bikini Underwear for little girls?
MOST HELPFUL POSTS
No one but you and your daughter will see the underwear so who cares. I never knew that this was an issue. I wore bikini cut until after my baby. My body shape changed too much so now I wear high leg brief preferably from Victoria's Secret. Just more comfy. My daughter is currently in diapers so we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
About the bra, yes there are girls that need them at 8,9,10. Some of those poor babies I taught had little ant bites that you could see through their undershirt and thick uniform polo. I think that is more innapropriate than wearing a bra too early.

My daughter wears bikini cut undewear..Hanes and they cover her properly. We tried the fuller cut but she HATED them and it caused so many issues. She was constantly picking wedgies out of her butt and she would get embarrased because the higher cut underwear was always sticking out at the top of her pants. She was so uncomfortable in them so why would I as a mother force her to wear panties that made her cry and feel so uncomfortable. She is 6 therefore she does not equate her bikini cut panties with sexuality and looking sexy. She has no concept of sex or sexuality. Plus her bikini cut panties have Hannah Montana on them, cupcakes and hearts, and Tinkerbell....they have childish patterns..not exactly "sexy."
As an adult I wear cotton bikini cut and boy short cut underwear because full coverage is completely uncomfortable. Granny panties as I call them ride up my butt and I don't like wearing panties that hang out over my pants. I don't wear my pants hiked up over my belly button. I wear cotton Victoria's secret. I don't wear lace undies and I sure don't buy bikini cut because I want to be sexy it is about comfort.
Equating cotton bikini cut panties with being sexy does not fit my reasons or my daughters reason for wearing them at all.

My four year old wears hip hugger bikinis and low rise bikinis. I think I already posted here waay back when. But I used to wear bikinis too at four and five.
I'm not sure how pervs know the underwear status of the girls. No one sees my daughter's underwear. She prances around because she's 4 1/2 and that's what 4 1/2 year olds do.

My daughter also wear bikini cut panties because that's what's comfortable for her. She had some of the full panties and she kept rolling them down because she hated them up on her waist. It has absolutely nothing to do with being/looking sexual but everything to do with fit and comfort. And honestly, even for adults I don't view bikini cut as being sexy at all. They cover everything!
I will not be putting an age limit on a bra. It becomes obvious when a girl needs one.

I wear knickers that dont come over my belly, they certainly arnt granny pants, but they are not bikini cut either. My daughters knickers fully cover her too but dont go over her belly. I think we might have a different version of bikini cut here, cause the one I was talking about is small and revealling. I dont like the skimpy ones.
If the ones you are talking about cover the child then I dont have a problem with them. :)

I don't think bikini cut is sexy in the slightest...I think it is comfortable. Considering my daughter went through a phase (for about a year) when she REFUSED to wear any socks OR underwear (can you imaging February in Canada with no socks or underwear?)...I am happy to buy her any undies that she will wear! Her latest pair say Rockstar across the butt... and I could care less. I agree that thongs are a different story...they are not comfortable and there is NO point to wearing them OTHER than sexuality.

I got my first bra at 10, and I think it's horrible that parents hold off on letting their daughters get one if they need it. There were girls in my class who CLEARLY needed a bra and didn't have one, and it got to the point that a teacher actually stepped in and consulted the parents. I understand none of us like to think of our daughters growing up so fast, but that is OUR issue, not theirs.

Underwear is now becoming the bain of my life - trying to work out what belongs to who. My olderst son's socks are just like my husbands, my oldest daughter's panties get mixed up with mine - with six of us there seems to be so much underwear that I find myself dreaming about balling socks :-)
Anyway I can't really see an issue with girls wearing bikini cut panties - thet're just the normal type of underwear for most females, it was when they started to make french cut and silky panties for little girls, that was when things got a bit ridiculous.
On a related subject what age do you think girls should start to wear bras?
I got my first bra at 11 because that was when I started developing although the were very small. But a friend of mine who was a little larger than me wasn't allowed to get a bra until she was 13 because her parent's didn't want her to grow up too fast. I felt really sorry for her as nearly all our friends had gotten their first bra by then.

I have two girls, 8 and 13. Both have worn bikini cut underwear since about 5 yrs old. They said they were more comfortable. Hanes/ Fruit of the Loom....if they cover everything appropriately then, I see no issue with it. Now if my 13 yo came to me about thongs(which they do make for that age) that would be a totally different story (NO WAY)
