Um, if he's going to perform oral sex on you - make him rinse with listerine well before you start. You don't want the alcohol burn down there but you want the bacteria in his/her mouth to be dealt with.
I got recurrent uti's from one boyfriend giving oral sex until I made him start doing this. The utis stopped.

A lot of teachers get UTIs from holding themselves for hours until we get a chance to use the bathroom!

That or an STD, if you have had kids either C section or natural before (the urethra closes too soon a lot of the times when you pee and can cause infection) or if you pee a little suddenly when exercising, coughing, laughing, or right after you peed on the pot and felt you were done. The pee caught in the "canal" can cause irritation if that makes sense.

I have always struggled with them. Since before I was sexually active. Ironically, pregnancy was the one time that I didn't have any. I was really scared about that, and was so relieved. Mine are caused by the endometriosis in my urinary tract, it just makes me more susceptible to those infections apparently.

I never had a UTI until after my kidney transplant. Since 2007 I have had about 8. I was on a low dose anti biotic during my pregancy to prevent them. I always take precautions to avoid them but sadly i still get them. Low immunity and my kidney transplant remain a huge cause for me.

Depends. For some women it is related to the anatomy of their pubic region. Their urethra is closer to the entrance of their vagina so no amount of showering will help them prevent an infection. And actually, showering is not the key to avoidance, urination after intercourse is the best way to prevent a UTI from sex.
