Carnival Rides

Do you let your kids ride carnival rides? A news story came out about a three-year-old being thrown from a ride. She met the height requirement. According to the article her mom was on with her and at the last minute decided not to ride with her. Luckily, the girl is ok. My daughter is almost 3 and we don't do rides at the moment and will probably avoid them as long as possible.

Yeah, that IS expensive, Teresa, especially with three kids! They don't have all-day bracelets that you can get? They're usually a better deal.

Where I bring my son, the kiddie rides are $2 each. He's happy to go on 5 or 6 rides and then he's done, so it's not too expensive of a day.

We have a fair once a year that is a rip off, so... nope. ;) My girls have been on them a few times in earlier years, but I showed them what a waste of money it is so we probably won't ever do them again... $4-6/ride!

I'm not a fan of carnival rides for the same reason Krista gave. However there is a children's amusement park nearby that I went to as a small child and I brought my daughter last summer. I let her on the rides because they are designed for young children and most don't leave the ground. There is no way I would ever let my young child on a ride like that with out me.

Sara, I heard about that!!

I would let them but only if me or their dad is with them. I didn't feel comfortable letting my kids ride big rides like the one the little girl was on at age 3 and certainly not by themselves.

We do the kiddie rides at actual entertainment parks -- ones that are there permanently. We don't do the ones at traveling carnivals -- I worry about their safety, where they're constantly assembling and disassembling the rides. And I go on WITH my son, for certain.
