the kids could play in our street(we are a private drive with about 6 other families living on it with us) and it's gravel. would like a park closer to us(or even a sidewalk) so I could take the kids to park instead of sticking on our street all the time. Everyone on our street minds their own business but looks out for each other. Only 3 othe families have kids(one is almost 3mos old) but they hardly play with my kids, since they are like hardly outside(the other kids). oh well atleast it's quiet and I can HEAR the kids all the time!!!

We are considered rural. We claim to be apart of our town but outside of the city limits. It's closer for us to go into Mt. Washington than it is to go into Taylorsville. So... we can't get good cell reception and only have 2 choices for tv providers and only satellite internet. I grew up in Boston hubby grew up in Mt Washington/Taylorsville. I like a bit of city(I could walk to the park but the idiots drive like maniacs on the road I would have to walk on to get to park) and it's down the sstreet from us. I like that no one hardly calls us and we get like zero visitors(im 50/50 on that)

I grew up in the suburbs and hated it. I have always liked the idea of living in the country. I think it is safer and much more fun for kids. It will show my kids that they don't always have to go somewhere to have fun. They can rely on the great outdoors to entertain them.

I too am a country person. Grew up on a farm til I was 16, moved to a small town, 200 ppl, then to the city, back to town now on the farm again. Whew.

I found the city too busy and too much concrete/pavement. No friendly people, really, just robots.

Town was full of snoops, everyone knew everyone's business. Being on the farm again, I have peace and quiet. No, I don't have convenience, but this is a $$ saving thing as well, if I don't have it I don't drive 26 miles to pick it up, I put it on a list and get it next time. Yes, it takes planning but it is better for me.

My kids when they are with me are here, not out running with friends. They still play sports through the school. They still get to see their friends but I know where they are for the most part. They have horses and ATV here as well as chores and jobs.

Yes, our road has potholes, but it doesn't make the news, we either drive around them or have them fixed, quietly. We have neighbors and we are a close knit community, our grocery lists are open, when I go to town I call the neighbor to see if they need anything and they call me to find out the same. But when we are going in and the neighbors are too, we meet for lunch or coffee.

I hope I can live on the farm forever, no more city for me.

I couldn't live in the City. I'd go nuts. You know the saying "nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there". I am currently living semi-rural. Nice five acre block. 20 minute drive from the nearest shopping precinct and 50 minute drive from our capital city. Perfect.

Country. I was raised in the country and now live in a large town with 82,000 people. I miss the country. I miss the fresh air, slower lifestyle, friendlier people and wide open spaces. Yes, living in a large town is convenient, but I prefer the country.

I'd say in between. I've never lived in a rural area, but I've lived in a big city. Now, I live in a smaller town. I LOVE it here. People are so much nicer here. And, it doesn't have "I'm in a huge hurry!" that I felt living in the big city. I can go to a store and run into someone that I know LOL Neighbors are close knit here..

Drawbacks though is that I have to travel to get to chain stores, or to go to the movies, restaurants, etc. Just missing some of those conveniences but I can deal with it..

I'm kind of an in between person I guess, I dont want to live in a major city but I dont want to be rural either. I currently live in a city with just over 150 thousand people which is plenty big enough for us. We live very close to the beach so have the relaxing seaside but we are only a 15 min drive to down town. I grew up between the city and country as a kid and they both had there perks, city was better to be able to do more sport and after school jobs but country you could have bon fires and dirt biking and such. I dont think I could live in the country now as I have become to used to my city life and having everything just there but I still like to visit every now and then!!!!
