I believe that climate change is occurring at a faster pace than would naturally take place as a result of human behavior. There is strong evidence to show that climate change has always been taking place and will always take place. But human activity is resulting in the pace quickening. The natural systems of the planet are not prepared to keep up with the increased rate of change, and the only way for us to avoid our own annihilation is to alter the way we impact the earth to start slowing the rate of change. Humankind will inevitably become extinct, just as all species have and will, but we don't have to go there so quickly & painfully. It is not just "global warming" or "carbon emissions" or any of the other cute catchphrases that people use when talking about environmental disaster, we must look at every single one of our behaviors if we would like to have a more successful, long-term existence on this planet. Unless we're ready to move on to the next planet ;-) the earth is going to find a way to get rid of us polluting humans and regain its equilibrium.

Sarah, you must not have read what I wrote. If you had, you would have read that I specifically said that "I don't think we should abuse the earth". I happen to live a very eco-friendly lifestyle because I care about our oceans, forests, air, etc... So, no, I don't think you should go crank up your heat. But I also don't think that we are the cause of global warming. I think it's a big lie. We're all entitled to our opinions here.

No, No, Nothing! I think that the Earth warming and cooling is just a natural cycle. As far as I am concerned, "global warming"as we know it, is a made up thing. I think it's incredibly arrogant to think that man-kind is powerful enough to totally screw up mother nature. That doesn't mean that I think we should abuse the earth. But I don't think that "global warming" is something that we have caused, or even something that we should be concerned about.

I believe in global warming, are we causing it, I don't know. I do know that I like to breath clean air and drink clean water regardless of what's going on with global warming. I mean who in their right freaking mind wouldn't like that? Oh that's right, the majority of those Republicans (in the US) ;)

I used to work for The Weather Channel, and my husband is a meteorologist. Here's the party line:
Whether or not humankind is responsible is up for debate.
As for who's responsible, it's my personal feeling that, even if nothing can be proven, we might as well do all we can to mitigate any effects we might be having on the environment.
I agree with Barb - we should minimize our footprint. And it should be mandated by the heads of every nation across the globe that alternative fuel sources become affordable and mainstream by 2020!

i watched "The Universe" last night on the History channel. Here is a link to the episode: http://www.history.com/shows/the-univers...
But anyway It was saying that our Sun is getting larger and making the drastic weather changes we are seeing and that within the next whenever years i'm dead, the sun will destroy the earth.
However, i do think we should be good patrons of the earth and keep it clean, recycle instead of using up fossil fuels, reuse items. make our homes more energy efficient and try to leave as little of a footprint as possible on the earth.
