So me, my mom, her boyfriend, my husband, and my brothers took my son out trick or treating well my brothers went also as they are young enough to do so... anyway we were walking around and we kept running into these two girls one dressed as a witch and one dressed as a french maid... now the witch costume wasn't so bad other than the fact it was so tight you could see her panty line, her dress was practically painted on but the french maid outfit looked like something out of a guys wet dream!!! you could almost see her ass and she had fish net white thigh high stockings that you could see the tops of with garters and a shirt so low cut it practically met the top of her skirt!!! I swear these girls were no older than 12-13 and no parents in sight... not only did they let them out of the house looking like hookers but didn't go with them on the one night of the year that is best known for kidnappings and other things... WTF??? also there was another girl maybe 14-15 who was dressed up and trick or treating so pregnant she looked like she would pop at any second walking around smoking a cigarette!!! i'm not quite as bothered by her as i was the others but really??? who would let their daughters out of the house looking like that... i know my parents never would have let me out of the house like that!!!
how about you guys have you seen anything like that??? what do you think???

Teens really don't understand what they look like to adults. They think they are cool wearing revealing clothes, etc. They make mistakes and learn from it, some faster than others.

I think that parents are becoming too relaxed now a days, and that girls are dressing like this younger and younger and developing sooner and sooner. I have 3 daughters still young, (4, almst 3, and almst 2) But I'm telling you they will NEVER be caught dead walking aruond like that! I don't care if it's the style or whatever you wanna call it!! They are going to be self-respectful of their bodys and they will not be showing off their bodies to other people just to fit in!!! That's my opinion and the parents need to be slapped, and not surprised if their daughter comes home pregnant at 16! All they did was encourage it! :)

My Mom and Dad wouldn't have even bought the costumes in the first place!

Trash is trash......... Maybe the pregnant teen was a practical joke and as sad as that might be the other possibility, that she might actually be preggars well that's just sick! Young pre teen girls sometimes have extremely poor judgement, just chalk it all up to a learning experience for all to see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You never know the story behind the girl or her situation so I try not to judge.

no i know the girl was definately pregnant... there is no way she could have pulled it off that good if it was just a costume thing!!! and she did look like a very young girl!! but you never know she might have been older... and as for the other two they were without a doubt entirely to young to be dressed that way!!!

Do you watch that tv show "the middle"? The husband refused to dress up for the Halloween party and insisted he go as "Mike" but since he wore a flannel shirt, someone figured he was the "Brawny man"

lol. at least she had a costume. I had people coming to my house in regular clothes with a plastic grocery bag saying "trick or treat" ADULTS!!! Come on, get a job. We spend our hard earned money (military salary) on goodies for kids, not grown ups. I told some of them to go away! Thats crazy

I was trick-or-treating with my husband and two year old and wasn't nearly as appalled by the young girls costumes as I was one MOTHER'S!!!! I saw this lady wearing a "pirate" costume... it consisted of a corset, knee high FM stripper boots, an eye patch, and a hat. Oh.. and fishnets. But she was walking around (around 6:15eastern time so still daylight enough) with her husband (dressed in dr. scrubs) and TWELVE YEAR OLD SON!!!!!! I could not believe my eyes!

Alison, I'm serious. This was back in 1991, here in Indiana. It's somewhat conservative in certain areas.

I agree with you and i hope by now they aren't still making the same mistakes. I don't have any daughter's or any friends who have daughters that are in that age range, so i don't know what the girls are being counseled with now.

I know my mom, when i was 12, just blurted it out in the car one day. "when you are ready to get on the pill, just let me know and i'll take you to the dr." i was the only girl out of 3 boys, i had no idea what the pill was, what it was even for!. As far as i was concerned, boys were still rock targets. But i am glad i had a mom that understood the importance of being open first to encourage me to be open about such matters.

Are you serious? A doctor was telling you to be abstinent? Don't they get that any girl asking for bc is already having sex???

That is a good point Candi. I also had that. at 22, married and had my son i went to obtain birth control and my ob/gyn told me that abstinence was the best birth control. i asked her if that worked with her husband, because i didn't think mine was going to like that method. At 25 i was applying for a different job and the lady handing out applications said "oh i'm sorry miss, you have to be 18 to apply for this job" my best friend punched me in the arm to make me stop laughing so i could tell her i was 25. even at 37 i was carded while going wine tasting with friends. I had to ask the girl if she was working on commission, bless her heart.

Another good point about if the teen was pregnant, that could have been a shock value type costume. course.. the smoking teen is scary enough.

And i agree, some parents not only condone their children wearing such clothes but also wear inappropriate clothing themselves which doesn't set much of an example of self respect.

are you sure the teen was really pregnant? It was Halloween after all. Are you sure she was a teen? When I had my son at 24, people asked me if I was old enough to have a kid and what grade I was in? I was 24 for crying out loud, but looked very young. I don't doubt what you're saying though. As far as the "hookers", thats disturbing! My kids are on the brink of hitting that age. My oldest will be 12 in January. Luckily he goes Trick or treating for 2 reasons: to scare kids and to get candy. My 10 yr old is a girl and so far her costumes are tame. She likes the darker side of pretty and loves for me to do her make-up....only on Halloween do we ever do makeup! Whats sad, is most parents know their children dress inappropriately and don't care. We were at the grocery store one day and saw a girl and her mother shopping. The girl couldn't have been more than 10 or 11. Her shorts were so short, I had to look twice to see if she was wearing anything! I thought she was wearing just panties. Obviously her mother approves, she was right there with her. I hope I am raising my children to respect themselves enough not to show the world their goodies! Some kids just don't have that lesson taught to them at home

I have never seen anything like that where I live and I guarantee you, when my daughter was in her teens, she would not be going out like that on Halloween. Funny thing is, she's now 20 and she still wouldn't do it even though it's her choice now.

BARB - you are right on, once again! You can't bullshit a bullshitter! I'm glad I got away with some of the stuff I got away with because now I know what to look for with my girl. So true on soo many levels :)

She's probably right. They parents may not have ever known how they were dressed. Girls (and boys) are very sneaky at that age and are pushing limits. Shame on the parents if they did know, though.

I think I would have personally been more disturbed by the pregnant teen smoking and trick-or-treating. (on the other hand - if I could get away with trick-or-treating while pregnant, I totally would have! mmmm.... chocolate)

It is very possible the parents had no idea what those girls were wearing. I know when i was that age i'd go out in jeans and a sweatshirt to a friends house and then go out in nothing but a toga for trick or treating at age 13/14.

Those experiences, i believe, helped me as a mom when my son became a teenager and even before. Like my mom in law says "you can't shit an old shitter" I already know all the tricks because i did them.

Once a child enters the ages where bits of freedom and responsibility are appropriate, you have to trust in the foundation of discipline and principals you have given them in their formative years.

Are they going to make mistakes and test their boundaries? you betcha!

Are they going to learn the lessons they need to from them? That's the important answer.
