I've met a few famous people. I was mostly concerned with making sure I didn't fawn all over them, partly because I didn't want to annoy them, but also because I know they're really not any more special than anyone else and they don't deserve it!

You see famous people all the time in Nashville. I also stood in line with a pro baseball player whose name I can't even remember. He was very annoyed that he had to wait in line and was stomping around saying "don't you know who I am?" My answer was "um no". I've not been star struck by any of the above examples because I didn't even know who they were until people pointed them out.
When I was in my teens I went to watch Manchester United FC play and I was totally star struck by Eric Cantona bcause he was such a great player.

Yes....I have.... and to be honest I don't like mentioning it to often but it's my claim to fame......He is a footballer and she (his wife) is a posh singer.
I was terrified about meeting them. I worked in a well known gym in the beauty salon and they popped in to see what we did there. We did everything from Nails to sports massage.
my boss at the time volunteered me to give him a new type of massage ( at that time La stone) I went numb! my words just wouldn't come out of my mouth properly and what I wanted to say came out gibberish!
They were lovely people and after I actually met them in person I must say that they are a genuine couple and are very down to earth. Don't believe everything you read in the paper. !

I have met a couple of famous people. My bestest friend in the whole wided world ( sorry that is her offical tital lol) her uncle is Ted Nugent. He is stone cold deaf as a stone after a concert, lol. But he was glad to see her. And I have met Neil Gamin at a convention in Ft. Lauderdale. My oldest, my only son, and his yourngest daughter hung out most of the weekend. My sister in law had to keep going up to his room to get my son. I met several other people that are famous there too but I am not really into comics so I didn't keep the names. I have also met an author or two but am really bad with names, lol.

Sadly meeting famous people was part of my job at one point. At first I was star struck, but you get over it. I have worked with Angelina Jolie, Marcia Cross, Colin Farrell, Tony Danza, Johnny Cochran, Seth Green, Full Tilt Poker Pros and more. It was fun at the time, but now that I am a mom, that lifestyle is not my cup of tea. Too much drinking, schmoozing and partying for a mommy lifestyle. :)

Krista : no, lol. i didnt get punched when i met the dalai lama. :) he was pretty nice, and so were the monks. there's a HUGE tibetan community in bloomington, as that's where a temple is too.
oh, i forgot about New Found Glory. i was up at IU and they were there passing around cds before they were mildly famous around the indie club (are they famous now???) and they kept bothering me and my brother to take a cd demo of theirs. we finally took one to get them off our backs.

When I was 9 I went on a vacation to Philadelphia with my grandparents. The hotel we were staying at was super nice and Wesley Snipes was having his family reunion there. We ran into him in the elevator and he invited us to join them for some activities, but we kindly declined.
My mom, when she was younger, was walking through a parking garage here in town and heard some people singing on a higher floor. She walked up because she thought whoever it was had really good voices. She got there and told them so, and they all sat down to share a cigarette, and it ends up that it was the ladies from Heart, who were in town for the Country Fair! My mom had no idea who they were at the time, and they totally sat and hung out for a while. They told her the acoustics in parking garages were awesome for practice.
I've met several college football and basketball players who went on to play professionally. Ernie Kent, the former University of Oregon men's basketball coach used to come in to the convenience store where I worked all the time. One morning the person I was supposed to open with didn't show, so he stayed and worked for an hour and a half with me while we waited for someone else to come in...and only asked for a free coffee as payment. He was the nicest guy. Also, my son nearly strangled Rick Majerus (the Univ. of St. Louis basketball coach) on an airplane. We were sitting behind him and my son kept getting up in his seat to play with the air thing. We told him to get down and he wrapped his arms around the top of the seat in front of us...and Majerus's neck...and wouldn't let go. Thank god he was only 2 at the time and we were able to pry him off (he's autistic). The guy was awesome about all of it, not mad at all, and actually kind of laughed it off (while I sweated the potential lawsuit the rest of the flight).
When I was a teenager I briefly met Tom Cruise. He was in town for a showing of a movie he made about Steve Prefontaine. My sister and I wanted to go get his autograph for our mom, who is a big fan. The crowd outside the theater was crazy so we gave up and instead walked about a block down the street to a cafe. We walked in and he was sitting at a table reading the paper! We approached him and he was very cordial and signed his autograph and we went on our way.
I've met several congressmen and senators, but I don't consider them to be really famous.
I sat next to Troy Polamalu's dad on a flight from Hawaii. We talked for quite a while about football. He was so nice!
I met Howard Zinn when he came to the local university for a speech when I was in high school. He was the only person I was thrilled to meet. and maybe a little start struck over!
I'm sure there are a couple others, but I'll have to think about it some more.

WOW that must have been the most surreal moment ever.

I keep remembering these at different times, lol.
I forgot Dave Attell (the comedian). Friend and I had a drink with him after one of his shows. He was hilarious, just like on his show Insomniac... totally wasted and dirty and funny.

Doug Gilmour and Wendell Clark (from the NHL)
Kurt Browning (figure skater)
Julian Austin (Canadian country singer)
Ben Johnson (disgraced Olympic runner - I spent and entire evening dancing with him at a bar one night and had no idea who he was. I didn't realize it until my cousin commented on it later on).

Lets see before I had kids I spent a lot of time going to indy concerts. So I have met a lot of semi famous bands like..
Bif Naked (great girl fun to party with)
Finger 11 (went to school with them and the basist married my cousin)
Our Lady Peace
Powerman 5000 (before they were famous)
Fear Factory (didnt really met them I walked right into them oops LOL)
Actors I have met
Rosie Odonnell (this one is actually funny, she was in my local downtown mall due to her flimming a movie, I almost walked into her, and I said to my daugther geez that bum sure looks like Rosie, and my 4 year old says, it is Rosie mom!! I was so embarassed but she was dressed just like the local bums.)
I have seen a few other famous people, but not actually spoken to them. I dont become star struck, these people are just people who have a job that makes them famous.

Ive met Oliver Hudson (Kate Hudsons brother), Penn Badgley ( guy from Gossip Girl) and Anson Mount (Britany Spears love in Crossroads), all 3 were doing a WB show called The Mountain and the pilot was filmed just outside of Okotoks and I got to do background for it, the meeting was brief but cool. Oh and for you moms out there who watch YTV, the TV show Baxter, the lead in it, Evan Williams is a friend of mine :) We used to be in theatre together, he's a very talented individual.

I did get a bit star-struck with Mick Jagger. I didn't actually meet him, but I was three rows back at a Stones concert, and I completely lost my tiny little mind when I saw him, screeching, "We love you, Mick!!!!" like a mad woman.

Matthew McConaughey has ties to my town and comes here fairly often. I seem to be the ONLY person who doesn't have a photo with him. Even my mom has one. She taught the granddaughter of his driver and he visited their classroom.
If you go to his official site and contact info the address given is for my town.
This is so dorky, but I went to a lecture given by one of my favorite authors, Ernest Gaines. He's from a nearby town. After the lecture, I hung around to see him and was so nervous about going up to him. My husband pushed me and I shook his hand. I was star struck.

i went to Indiana University, so i met Bobby Knight a few times (when the whole "boo hoo bobby knight punched me in the face when i said hi" thing went on before he was fired....fun times heading to the dorm when everyone's carrying bats and stuff to the other side of campus). he was real nice. i said "hi bobby" and didnt get punched.
the Dalai Lama (twice). his brother is a professor at IU, so he was always coming here. i was going into the mall and he was coming out, and he grabbed my arm and stopped and said something in Tibetan. his 3 monks (who were probably bodyguards) bowed real low to me which was cool. then he smiled and walked on. it was cool and weird all at once.
my Czech language teacher was a famous author in the Czech Republic, but i didnt know that til after i graduated.
David Beckham, Gorbachev, Smoky the Bear (lol).
and Jared the Subway guy came in to the food court when i worked there my junior year at IU and didnt order a sub. he had a poppyseed bagel at Dunkin Donuts. this was while he was doing the Subway commercials. does he count?
i was friends with Antwan Randal El (no idea who he plays for now in the NFL). dunno if he's famous, but i saw him on ESPN giving an interview.

I'm not star-struck in any way, but I have met a few famous people. Living in Las Vegas exposed me to lots. I met Drew Barrymore, George Clooney, Rodger Waters, Snoop Dog & Corey Feldman....I think that's it. Rodger Waters I actually hung out with & spent the weekend with. He was by far the best, although he was just a sad, old man.
On the other hand I've seen TONS of famous people, but never actually "met" them. Kind of cool I guess.

I lived in Savannah, which is a big movie town, so I've met quiet a few celebrities- Sandra Bulllock, Alec Baldwin, Thora Birch, Ben Afleck to name a few. And then if you're into punk music I've met a lot of "famous" musicians- all the guys from Dropkick Murphy, Lars Frederickson, The Used, Reverand Horton Heat, etc.
wow- now that I sit down and start thinking it's more than I expected. I was a bit star struck by Lars, but that's b/c Rancid is one of my all time favorite bands and he bought me a beer! Be still my beating heart!!

Oh yeah I forgot I met the band 3 Doors Down when I was 18. Their tour bus broke down in my small town and they were parked in the parking lot next to my brothers work, so he called me and told me and me and my friends went and hung out with them. They were all really nice, except the lead singer. He was a cocky jerk who thought he was better than everyone (I guess it was kind of at the height of their fame).
