They are male...sexual orientation does not mean they should be crowned 'queen' instead of 'king'...transgender would be a different story.

I believe his date was actually crowned king. So the king and queen were actually a gay couple.

@ Amanda Parsons - Nefertiti was actually Chief Consort, not Pharaoh. And a political king is far different from a social one, especially in those days. Social kings and queens are defined by gender usually, while political ones are defined by power. For example, Hatshepsut (probably one of the most well-known, but was only really a regent and pretender-Pharaoh until her son came of age - according to some opinion) and Cleopatra. "Pharaoh" - which is the term for Nefertiti's culture - can be used interchangeably for either male or female, although in the majority of recorded Egyptian history, males have been the predominant political leaders (that's around the same time they changed their predominant god from female to male). Not unless lesbian girls can be prom king, which kinda makes the whole "king" and "queen" thing pointless. Males should be eligible for prom king and females should be eligible for prom queen, regardless of orientation. How's it going to look with a male prom king and a male prom queen? I bet the king's going to be uncomfortable and the girls are going to be pissed that their chances of being crowned just got slimmer. jmho

i agree with getting rid of the crowning all together...i was unpopular in school and knew that there was no chance in hell that i was going to be prom queen so i just hated the whole idea but to get back on topic...if the guy is happy to be queen then why not frankly i have a friend who is gay and would of loved to be queen and i would of much rather see him up there instead of one of the so called popular girls that use to pick on me...but i don't see a problem with this as long as it was what the guy wanted...i read that a long time ago that a woman named nefretiti in egypt out ranked her husband and becamse king so whats the diff and that was of a whole country or something like that...lol

I don't mind that he was named queen. But this decison was made by students it was their choice and thy chose to give him prom queen. Maybe they are making a point for change.

NO they need to be kings, plain and simple. Not that I disagree with being transexual or gay, but come on. Not fair to the girls. What if it was the other way around (girls being named "king" based on sexual orientation)? All hell would break loose even more!

Doesn't make much sense to me, unless they are transgendered. Being gay doesn't make you the opposite gender. Boys are still boys, they just happen to also like boys. If boys are going to be prom queens and girls are going to be prom kings, then why not just call them prom presidents and get rid of the whole old-fashioned business anyway? Weird.

Are girls allowed to be prom Kings? This seems like a step too far in the PC direction. Boys are boys, girls are girls...Like some posters said, unless you are transgender then no I don't think a boy should be able to be a prom queen.

It's a Glee thing ... the TV show. They crowned a young man as 'Queen' as a last minute write in. It was meant to make him hide in shame (cause nothing is worse then being called a woman) and he was pissed at first, but then stood his ground, accepted the crown, danced with his bf, and won the respect of the school.

Some men, gay and straight, like to dress in drag and refere to themselves as Queens, so yah, why not?

I agree if they arnt trans gender it makes sence there not women and i dont think its fair for the females of the group. Or they could come out with a new set of crowns if everyone thought that was a good thing shrug i never had to go through crowns and stuff so i dont really get it.
