I am more outspoken in real life, however in saying that being face to face it is easier to assess a situation and to decide if it is appropriate to be so out spoken. I would never want to do it to intentionally hurt someone's feelings. I try to tone it down a little so not to offend anyone, however occasionally I let one one slip, I always feel bad afterwards and have been known to delete a few posts after I read them a second time.

I am me but a lot tamer on facebook, due to respect for other peoples feelings. I actually see some stuff on here that makes my blood boil and I wanna respond "how the hell can you do that or say that" but dont like pointing fingers at people. And I know that some people cant help their way of thinking, so I hold back a bit.

If I was talking to my friends I would just blurt it out lol. But I try and be a bit more tactful with my responses so as not to offend anyone (as much as possible anyway lol)

I think I'm about the same in real life, if not worse. I believe in honesty, and sometimes it becomes a fault. I am not trying to be rude, I just like to give my opinion in a manner that is straightforward so that people actually get what I'm trying to say.

Meghan....GREAT QUESTION! I am who I am. I'm very opinionated and have had to learn to give my opinion without being judgemental. I'm exactly the same in person as I am online...except I tend to curse a LOT less online then I do in person :)

I am pretty much the same here as anywhere else, although IRL, I don't tend to have the same kinds of debates. But I do have a friend who I will rant on about different things for hours on end, but it's easier because we agree most of the time. LOL

I'm a pretty blunt person, and a terrible liar so I don't even try, lol. On here I am fairly the same but I do tend to tone it down a bit because there are a few who are alittle to touchy about everything on COM, so to avoid the dramatics I tone down the way I would normally word things. My friends and family are all used to me being this way, and even respect it cause they know they will always get an honest opinion from me.

I think that (generally) people online are definitely what they seem. being online allows discussions, debates and an opportunity to vent that many people IRL don't have (me included). I am about as out spoken here as I am when I am around my really close friends, I talk/write the same. I curse like a sailor both online and IRL. I also try really hard to not offend people (I love it when people like me ^_^ rofl)

I have 2 face book profiles,
Me Emma which is actually me and Hinny Kat (my cats name) i play vamp wars and all the games on her as most games require you to have hundreds of friends so i made my gaming profile.
The people i have as friends on the real me are my friends and family and i did not want strangers on there as i have pics of my kids and news about my life and that of my family.
my profile as Emma has tight security but Hinny is totally open as its just for games and game related chatter and has no personal info at all on it at all.

As far as being braver while on the net than in life i would say im me 100% i am very opinionated and love a good debate as long as it dose not get nasty or personal.

I too am just as real in here as R/L, I frequently get told by my hubby and his best friend how damn blunt I am. My feeling is if someone doesn't like what I have to say, then don't ask my opinion. I don't believe in lying to save someone's feelings. I may sweeten up the truth a bit, depending on the topic, but I won't lie.

I am soooooooooo much tamer on here than I am in real life - quite often I deleate the things I say then write them in a less offensive way - I really hope that no one takes offensive at this but in my husbands work he had to go to a class on how to deal with people from different countries because each country has a different way of doing thing and "take" things in a different way and one of the countries they deal with a lot is America. He told me of how Americans are very different to Brits, so I try and put things in a way that will not offend people because I respect that some of you may take it in a different way than I necceseealy mean it. My Brit friends and family see the real me rants and all!!!

I'm a fair bit more outspoken on here than in person. Like Carol said, I don't argue with my friends and family for hours about the merits of child harnesses or why I think that Glenn Beck is a lunatic. I don't hide my opinion, but I usually don't get into drawn-out debates with people. Online, however, I tend to be a little more...enthusiastic.

Well, I embarrassed him about being loud about something (like when I notice the bagger THROWING my fruit in the bag and dropping a melon on top of it.. Yeah that kinda pisses me off a little. Why buy it if they are going to mash it to smithereens before you ever have a chance to eat it?).. It wasn't directed to him/at him.. Just wanted to make that clear.

I'm the same person everywhere. I really don't talk to people IRL ever though, so online is pretty much the only place that stuff in my head comes out. ;)

Unfortunately this is the real me.. Going off on God-knows-what. I do TRY to be reasonable and respectful, but even in person I don't come off that way. I used to be really good, really shy and respected everyone. I guess after you've been teased so much in school for being shy and stuff, you just get sick of it and you finally find your voice. My sister even told me not too long ago (about a month and a half ago) that I don't seem to have a problem arguing with family (we were talking about how I didn't want to start an argument with my MIL about something).. It kind of opened my eyes a little, so I am trying to be more careful. Not to mention that I have embarrassed my poor husband in the Commissary before.. So I do try to keep it to myself when out in public. But yep.. This is me.

I think people are often more outspoken, but I'm not sure that they are not being genuine. I don't tend to rant on and on about the things we talk about on here IRL, but that's why I come here. My friends and family do know my views on things, but these sorts of topics just don't always come up in every day life that often. I mean, I don't go out for girls night with friends and spend my time discussing whether or not we should spank or if we agree with the US healthcare plan. We have fun. But I'm very opinionated so this gives me a great outlet for that and saves my hubby from having to listen to my rants.

i am what i seem on here, but it's only seen by my close friends. i don't tell my family i'm not a christian anymore, i don't NEARLY speak my mind as much around people i don't know in fear of hurting their feelings, or in fear of confrontation. when somebody says something on here to piss me off, i can respond with a good argument without crying, or having to think forever about what to say cause it's not face to face confrontation. i detest confrontation in real life, i start to cry, i can't think of anything to say, and i just suck at it, here i feel a little more power.

I think I am more out spoken on the forums than I am in RL...only because I am so busy I rarely have time to debate topics such as these in RL...thats why I love my blackberry...so I can do this while im waiting in line at the store or in the waiting room at the Dr...
