My little one turned 1 year old on Sept. 19. Yesterday she woke up with a cough and a runny nose. When she spiked a slight temp I took her to the doctor. He said it's just a cold, but he suggested we put off the party till she's feeling better. I tried to call off the party yesterday and push it up a week or two. So far everyone has told me basically that I should have called it off sooner (as if I knew she'd be sick), and that they requested this day off a while ago (Its been planned since the spring for this Saturday). So basically I'm being told either we need to carry on with it tomorrow or I need to put it off for at least 3-4 more weeks. And everyone is pushing for just doing it tomorrow. I see what they're saying, I'm not thrilled she's sick either. Biggest reason obviously is that it is HER party and she's not going to be in the best of moods (who is when they're sick??). Also the weather looks like it's not going to cooperate, and her birthday is planned at the park, and our house is too small to accommodate everyone, so I would have to bundle her up real good and that will make her even more uncomfortable. Also I too requested this weekend off (which isn't easy to get where I work), and I made reservations for my brother's family and I and my daughter to stay at a hotel with an indoor water park Saturday night (which from what I understand if I cancel that then I don't get my deposit back). But I don't care about the money. I care about my daughter and all the little kids that will be attending. I don't want to make a bunch of kids sick and I don't want my daughter to be completely miserable at her birthday party. So should I just call it off or just try to keep her away from all the other little ones? Or should I make all the adults happy and just get it over with?
