I use both. I use tampons during the day and pads at night. I also tried those cups but coudln't get them to go in correctly no mater how hard I tried. (This was back in 1995 before I got pregnant so I don't know if they've changed since them)
I also only use specific brands. OB Tampons because I've gotten way too many little cuts from applicators and Always pads because of the lining.

Yeah, my cervix is far off-center to the left. I *do* have to work the Diva cup into position more than your average person. But it works well for me.

I have a hugely tipped cervix but luckily I can still use tampons without a problem.

I wish I was able to wear tampons or use a diva cup, but I'm stuck using pads and I fucking hate it! I have the pleasure of a bent cervix which means I'd have to do some crazy acrobatics just to get things positioned properly. I think I will celebrate the day my period stops for good!

Yup, my second day is my heaviest and I still go probably six to eight hours without having to empty the cup. It holds a lot more than you think. The rest of the days I'm good with emptying it every 12 hours. I've never had to empty it in a public toilet.
I've never spilled anything either. It's not just blood that comes out, so the fluid is much thicker and doesn't slosh around.

I have actually considered trying one. But I am one of those people who would pull it out to check and spill blood everywhere.

@ Emma. If you need to, you pull it out dump it, wipe with TP and reinsert. I will say though, that I rarely run into that problem, maybe on the second day of my cycle if that. I have extremely heavy periods, if not using the cup I need a tampon & pads, otherwise I have issues. But with the cup, I can usually go at least 4-6 hours, even on heavy days, without emptying it. It does help that I have a private bathroom at work.

At night I wear a tampon but with a pad too in case it leaks. I have no fears or worries leaving it in for 10-12hrs.

How do you empty the diva cup in public toilets?

I like tampons for day, pads at night. You're not supposed to wear a tampon longer than 4-8 hours and I sleep longer than that. Stayfree for both.

I usually alternate between pads & tampons. The only tampons I like are the Playtex ones. I don't feel comfortable wearing a tampon overnight, so I wear a pad instead.

lol its ok i just said my opnion, i like to use both together. when a tampon is in the right spot you shouldn't feel it up there. I too have had issues where a tampon isnt settled right or it just needed to be pushed farther in and it has ended up making me sore too.

i like both together. if its just pads they move and i get blood all in my underwar, and if its just a tampon when its full the blood still drips out so i like to have a pad or pantiliner to cath the runoff, plus when i am at the end of my period i tend to waste more tampons than anything.

Tampons all the way for me. I couldn't use them for the first year or so after having my daughter (3rd degree tear took a long time to heal) and I'd forgotten how much I hate pads.

Pads. Tampons ... I don't like the bleach and other chemicals in my body, but they are of use if swimming or something ... pads don't last more then a few hrs, but then tampons shouldn't be worn for a long time. The over night pads usually work for that.

100% Tampons only. Pads make me feel icky, dirty and like I am wearing a diaper.

Diva cup.
By the way, it's not new at all, been around since the 50s.
Tampons are gross- they're breeding grounds for bacteria. Pads are gross- they stink and they're full of chemicals.
With the cup there's no smell, no bacteria, no chemicals, holds way more than a pad or tampon does. Just dump it, rinse and re-insert. No buying disposable items, either.

If a tampon is uncomfortable you are probably using one that is too big for your flow. I like plastic applicators, and have to use the biggest I can find. My SIL has to use the smallest, though. You may want to try several different brands and types, some are better than others! Pads make me feel gross. It a personal decision, that's why they make so many choices! I have thought about the new cup thing, but that seems a little gross(I think you have to wash it) and, well, seems like I'd just want it all to come on out.

I've never heard of them causing a UTI as long as you change them regularly. Maybe if you left it in there for a few days! yuk.
But UTI's are in the urinary tract not in your vagina.

I'd try different sizes and brands for tampons. I personally find certain brands uncomfortable. I prefer good ol' fashioned tampax with a cardboard applicator.
And I hate pads, they make me feel gross. But I have heard from some women that they can't use tampons. But the brand I use works best for me. I can't even tell they're there.

Pads for me. I swell (on the inside) with tampons.
