Everytime I get a notification for responses to this thread it makes me want to *barf*

I think it's ridiculous to 'punish' anyone for losing a game... no wonder so many people end up being sore losers ;) and definitely don't agree w/ the punishment of choice.

It's a bit off-the-wall but I don't know that I would resort to firing the teacher. She's not asking them to drink out of her shoe...lol. I wouldn't have done it, I would have told her to honk on Bobo...there's no way that she could have kicked me off the team for refusing anyway so she would have lost that battle then and there and it would have been a non-issue. Besides, the one teammate said she'd rather do that than run two miles, so I suppose in the true interest of sportsmanship, they complied. Competitive sports don't follow the rules of "everyone play nice and we'll all get a nice blue ribbon at the end of the day"...it's often barbaric what we do to one another on the field...but for some reason we have created an entire sub-culture of our culture that is dedicated to competitive sports as a way of life and as a way of recreation. I figure if you're willing to compete, you're willing to do just about anything to win, so have at er'!

LOL Tah, If I've started seeing the future then this pregnancy is doing some extra crazy stuff to me!

I don't think pop is the devil... it's even extra good when it's mixed with some malibu. (No, I'm not drinking that while pregnant. lol)

apparently she was "young." She didn't know better. The thing is though, technically you can't MAKE anyone do anything soooo, I would have told her where to go and refused. Wonder what she would have done to me then :/

@jenny..pop is the devil..except when it's mixed with a little jim bean...

@suzette..that is more like seeing the future if they ever tried anything..i remember my middle school principal said something out of the way to me, sister rita her name was, and my mom almost beat the band getting up there to my school the next morning, she would walk me in everyday and i almost had to run to keep up...i don't know what she said but sister rita was red the rest of the day and extra nice to me and my brother until we graduated..lol

honestly, i can't believe a grown woman would do something so stupid. there is such a thing called professionalism and this woman definitely lacked it.

however...if i had to choose between doing that and running 2 miles, i'd have to agree with this high school girl. this isn't the worst punishment someone could come up with, but it is unsanitary and disrespects the players as human beings.

Hopefully I would have raised my kids so that if someone asks them to do something stupid like this they can tell them to shove it and walk off the field to submit a complaint themselves. Or just tell the lady that it's a dumb idea and proves nothing nor will it affect future games. You win some, you lose some. and yes, pop is the devil.

maybe she should do a better job at coaching so the kids wouldn't strik out.....seems like she should be the one drinking from the shoe for her shortcomings!

I would file an official complaint to the school about the teacher. If I was the teen I would have just left and went straight to complain about the coach, then get my parents involved. It's just not right!

I agree with Colleen, that teacher needed to be fired.

I have the image of Tah ripping off someone's head... and a new shoe being shoved down the teacher's throat... I think I need more sleep.

I don't think it's an effective way to teach anything, that's for sure. Honestly though, I'd be more upset about the pop than the shoe. Pop is the devil.

I would have made sure she lost her job for that one, that's uncalled for. I coach basketball and I would never do anything like that to a kid. She needs to TEACH them ways they can improve on their hitting not belittle them. I can picture myself getting 2 inches from her face and telling her where to go!!!

what is going on with these teachers, they are beating kids up and making them drink out of shoes, do we have to start interviewing them like we do babysitters with our own PI checking to see what they really did in the past...some parent is going to go to jail for ripping a teachers head off and i pray it isn't me...

that's gross! I would have told her where to go and thrown the shoe at her for even suggesting it

Oh I would be losing it. My dad always stood up for me and I would do the same. I would be making this coach drink through a straw!

As a player no way would I have done this. I would have told the coach we will all tell are parent and if she kept at it we would have left

They were talking about it on channel 95.5 and one HS girl called up and said she would rather do that than run 2 miles???????? Now our kids are being conditioned to choose a punishment?

Um I think she should be fired for being incompetent. That's my opinion. She obviously doesn't know how to properly "coach" young women, and I'd be afraid to see what she'd do with children.
