A U.S. soldier's chilling description of killing Afghan civilians for fun was screened on Monday in front of a war crimes hearing investigating his case.

Cpl. Jeremy Morlock, 22, is one of five soldiers who stands accused of being part of a secret "kill team" in his Stryker brigade unit, murdering innocent Afghans and collecting their body parts as souvenirs.

Videotapes of his interviews with Army investigators surfaced on Monday, in which Morlock details how he and fellow soldiers Calvin Gibbs and Adam Winfield mercilessly targeted civilians.

Marisa-my husband's in the army too and even he thinks they should spend life in prison if they don't get the death penalty. These men represented America and were supposed to stand up for innocent people and protect them and instead they killed innocent people. These men should be severely punished.

Marisa - you think they should be kicked out of the army, and...?

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind..

Just because some terrorists killed some innocent americans (downplaying this of course) doesn't give them the right to go over there and kill their people... Try them, sentence them and let them rot..

I think Marisa was trolling. Bad girl!

Throw the proverbial book at these guys and use them for study for the duration of their life sentences. Clearly, being trained to kill and being put in a war where you are expected to kill, no questions asked, can bring out the sociopath in people who have sociopathic tendencies, whether these tendencies are dormant or not. Learn as much as you can from these fine examples and use it to screen potential soldiers, as well as to spot potential sociopaths who are already enlisted. I'm not saying that it is not their fault, but there are obviously people who choose these kinds of professions so that they have a legal outlet for their dangerous personalities. Try to learn something from these guys so that a repeat of this sadistic shit can be prevented.

they should be tried and convicted of first degree murder, plain and simple. what a major abuse of power, and what a STUPID thing to do!! not only is the act itself horribly unspeakable, but even if you don't give a shit about afghans i would think that they would give a shit about fellow americans which i think are in even more danger now that these asshats did this.

"i think its sooo wrong to just kill someone for no reason but then its like they do that to us? right? they would kill themselves and their own.. they just blow things people themselves up.."

NO Jaclyn they ( innocent citizens of afghan ) DO NOT DO THAT TO YOU .

Terrorists do these things not an entire nation of people i wish people would learn to differentiate between the two instead of spouting this ignorance , how would you like it if the world judged you on all the heinous crimes committed by the worst people of your country .

hmm i just saw this on the news and one of the guys were speaking out about it from the next town over... i really dont know how i feel... i think its sooo wrong to just kill someone for no reason but then its like they do that to us? right? they would kill themselves and their own.. they just blow things people themselves up..
but i really think something should be done... the guy in charge should be the on responsible and get harsh punishment. the guys doing it they were doing what theywere told to do.. and you dont know hwta was being said to them or anything.. i mean they are trained to kill i think it would be easier for them to be persuaded into doing stuff like that..
its so sad no matter what country or anything to hear or innocent people killed

sorry my mind goes all over the place ha.

I'm also pissed at the savages comment. These men could be considered savages for what they did. But not all Afghans or Americans are savages, in fact the majority are not. What an ignorant thing to say.
To answer the question, these men should be punished for what they did. There is no excuse for their actions.

Yeah im a little pissed off at the savages comment and i totally agree with Heather .

Its ignorant comments like that , that make the lives of innocent Afghani people hell to live in western countries all it does is spread hate where hate isnt deserved .

Terrorists are savages not the whole population of Afghans .

Oh yes, let's lump all of America into one category because a few psycos did something horrible. And the Afghani people aren't savages either. They're living under a regime of corruption and oppression and it's a minority group of fundamentalists and crazies that we're trying to stop. I would love for all of soldiers to be able to "come home", but I'd rather us not leave Afghanistan the way we've left Iraq. We may not have started this the right way, but we should finish it. Sorry for the rant, but it irritates me when people take an act perpitrated by a few and applies it to all of America. It's asinine.

Well, I guess it just goes to show that the Supreme Being USA really isn't all that much better than the Afghani savages. So, can the soldiers come home now?

Wow, um.. I am a little speechless, I have only read the first comment from Marisa and I am a little shocked really that anyone would think this is ok. What if that was your family that was killed? Very sad, they should be held accountable for their actions, this is an absolute disgrace, in fact I would be happy for them to be prosecuted under Afghanistan law, as is any other person who commits a crime in a foreign country.

Thanks Natasha!

I personally don't think we should have gone to over over the attacks. We have wasted far too much money. Yes I realize that we have caught some of the terrorist, but we will never get them all.

I think we have wasted more American lives on this war than what we lost on 9/11. Thats what is sad to me.

We have also wasted so much money:
Pentagon spending in February, the most recent month available, was $6.7 billion in Afghanistan compared with $5.5 billion in Iraq. As recently as fiscal year 2008, Iraq was three times as expensive; in 2009, it was twice as costly.

The shift is occurring because the Pentagon is adding troops in Afghanistan and withdrawing them from Iraq. And it's happening as the cumulative cost of the two wars surpasses $1 trillion, including spending for veterans and foreign aid. Those costs could put increased pressure on President Obama and Congress, given the nation's $12.9 trillion debt.

Afghanistan will cost nearly $105 billion in the 2010 fiscal year that ends Sept. 30, including most of $33 billion in additional spending requested by Obama and pending before Congress. Iraq will cost about $66 billion. In fiscal 2011, Afghanistan is projected to cost $117 billion, Iraq $46 billion. To date, Pentagon spending in Iraq has reached $620 billion, compared with $190 billion in Afghanistan.

I realize that people live horrible lives in other parts of the world, but I think that until no child goes to bed hungry in the us we should stay out of other countries.

I don't personally believe in the death penalty, well, more specifically murder period. However those are heinous crimes that need to be addressed immediately. Especially since their behavior was just begging for world war three to ignite

I;m with Tanya on this one, I don't support the way the war started. I think that now that we're involved though, it's things like this that detriment and negate everything we're doing over there.

Actually, it's probably not a big story in Afghanistan or Pakistan or Iraq due to lack of media and lack of most people having TVs, but I'm sure Iran, Lebanon, and Egypt are capitalizing on this hard core.

It just makes me very sad. I was opposed to the war to begin with. Now that we have spent so many trillions of dollars these guys make the rest of the world hate us move. I am sure this story is huge in the muslim world.

This whole unit was a mess. It was recommended that they not even go to Afghanistan because of all their problems. These guys will spend the rest of their lives in the Ft. Leavenworth Pen. assuming they don't get the death penalty. It's a nasty story. There are sociopaths and psychopaths in every army and fortunately these guys were caught before they were allowed to go back and do it again.

Brittney, I don't think the soldiers who are being investigated feared for their lives at all. They had guns, their victims didn't. That one story of the man they tossed a grenade at....correction, the UNARMED man they tossed a grenade at....no reason for that whatsoever. I have a feeling that in time, as the details keep coming, it's going to get (and sound) worse and worse.

I remember reading a long time ago that an early sign of a psychopath goes back, in many cases, to childhood. A child kills a cat or dog for no reason and displays other abnormal behaviors (no remorse, no emotion, etc). Said child then has the potential to grow up to become a serial killer or rapist or some such hideous thing. What about the soldier who kills for sport? Kills PEOPLE for sport. Do we really want psychopaths representing us worldwide?

That is so sad. I think the crazy satgent who was threatening the soldiers should get the book thrown at him. The other soldiers should be investigated and dealt with differently. I believe right now that they feared for their lives. We'll have to see what all comes out in time.

I think they should get tried and convicted of murder. End of story. Makes me ill to even think about and makes me understand why the world views America the way it does sometimes.

And Marisa, shame on you. That's a horrible, coldhearted thing to say. WTF is WRONG WITH YOU?

They should be sentanced for murder , life in prison , no parole .

Even better put them in an afghani prison so he can get whats coming to him hes not human hes a monster .

That is just fucking disgusting .
