What has God done for you?

I just read someone's post about what if there is no God. As a Christian even hearing those words hurt my heart. So I just wanted to hear from those of you who do have a personal relationship with Jesus what he means to you and what has He done for you?
Here's mine.
When I was 11 my mother was divorcing her 2nd husband my father had another family that filled his time and my other siblings were busy with there own life. I could go on for hours about how lonely and sad I was all day every day. No one noticed cause everyone was too busy to even notice me. I would ride my bike for miles in the middle of the night in the rain and hurry home knowing I was in trouble to find no one knew I was gone. My heart was broken my spirit destroyed. One weekend while with my dad we went to a new church my step-mothers friend told her about. At first it was too much. But several weeks later I found myself even more broken and even more open. I walked down to the altar and all I could do was cry. I was probably down there for several hours just crying to God. I had nothing to offer Him nothing to say. And just as though He was in flesh and blood I felt Him come to me put His arms around me and say " I AM HERE, I SEE YOU AND I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE." He was my father my mother and my friend. He came at a time I needed Him the most. I have fallen many times since then, got into drugs and what not, you name it I did it. But every time He was there with me protecting me even when I cursed His name. Today I am a born again Christian. I love my God more than anything or anyone. He saved me when no one else cared. He's as real to me as the breath I breathe. I can only hope I live a Godly example that my children will know His love and love Him like I do.

I think even the people who do believe in god should know better. A sperm and an egg make babies and no amount of faith will change that fact.

Quoting Jennifer....

" if you don't believe in God you don't believe God made your children. "

Correct me if I'm wrong but Jennifer is saying, for those of us that DON'T believe in God, we don't believe he made our children.....at least that's how I understood her statement! She doesn't believe in God so therefore she doesn't believe he created her children. Basically that's what the rest of you were saying afterwards.

Gotta love these religious debates. ;)

No matter how far fetched the odds of The Big Bang occuring may be, it only had to happen once. Even if the odds are one in a trillion, it only needed to happen once and set the wheels of evolution in motion.

I can't believe some of the religions, like you are talking about, Kati. The westboro baptist picket funerals....funerals?! That is the family's time of mourning and need respect there. Unacceptable.

Is it just 'poof' the universe is here?

Sure. Why not? Why is that so much less believable than the idea of an invisible sky person creating everything? I mean, according to religion, "poof", God has always existed, right? So why is it so farfetched to think that the universe has always existed in some form or another?

if there is a god he's had my father kill my unborn brother, beat my mother and sister and i too pulps, and instilled fear of men in me. he's killed 2 of my unborn children. he's made my sister so fucked up that she is now an alcoholic, has been pregnant 4 times by 4 different men, has lost her children to the state, and they now live with their daddies, and made it so my she and i who were very close before, havn't spoken in almost 4 years, and she's seen my youngest son a handful of times, mostly at chance passings at walmart or something.
i do not believe there is a "god" out there that would do these things, at least not the one i grew up believing in. and if he is real, i don't want to believe in someone that would do that, and then claim to love me in the next breath.
now, i'm with loureen where i will not discourage any religion that my chilren want to believe in, and i will support them no matter what (well, unless they turn into westboro baptist members, or jehovahs witnesses, or mormon-then i will just try my damndest to steer them a different way).

Shalaina _I at least hope that you as parents will let your children make up their own minds. Maybe you don't want to push that on them but I wouldn't discourage it either, if you truly do want them to choose for themselves.

Although i dont personally believe , i have always had a historical interest in all religions and if my child chooses to follow a particular faith it is their choice to make not mine , i will always support them no matter what direction they take be it Buddhist , christian , Islamic , or the church of the flying spaghetti monster :D

Nothing .

considering i dont believe in him , everything good in my life has come from hard work, determination , supportive friends , family and Fiance and i have a wonderful family born from the love we expressed through sex that caused a chemical and biological reaction to form a human being , our son .

I have no problem with people who use religion for their own faith and hope as long as its used for positive means not as a shield for bad , but please dont feel sorry for us that dont believe we have our own faith , hopes , morals and values based on our own beliefs , to suggest we are missing out on anything is condescending .

Megan Maloy, thank you for pointing that out to Jenifer.... thought I was pretty clear about the fact that I am a Christian.

I think making a baby inside of you is a miracle. I have never had anyone deny that!

For the non-believers, where do you think the world came from? Did you come from a monkey? I didn't! If you think about the little speck that you are in the universe it is hard not to believe. Is it just 'poof' the universe is here?

Religion convinced the world that there's an invisible man in the sky who watches everything you do. And there's 10 things he doesn't want you to do or else you'll to to a burning place with a lake of fire until the end of eternity. But he loves you! ...And he needs money! He's all powerful, but he can't handle money!I would never want to be a member of a group whose symbol was a guy nailed to two pieces of wood.

I could never be apart of an organization like this...its against anything I stand for! And for the record Jenifer, Shalaina Ivanichenko never said she didn't believe in God...I got the impression that she did in fact believe in god.

I just don't understand why you would love a god that made satan, hell, and sin. Then he put us in the middle of it to prove a point

Shalaina I don't mean any disrespect but if you don't believe in God you don't believe God made your children. At the end of the day God wasn't involved in the baby making in our house! I will be teachingour son the morals of being a Christian but we will not teach him about God. If he wants to be part of a religion he can do so when he's old enough to decide.

SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS. I agree, it kills me to hear that people do not believe in God and will not accept him into their hearts. I think everyone who says they don't believe should look at their little one, how can you not after that? My son is almost 11 months and I thank God everyday for my gorgeous little boy and wonderful husband! I, too, wish to set the best example I can as a Christian. I definitely will do the best that I can teaching my son about God.
Thanks for the great story, love hearing that kind! And love seeing this post after reading the other one, definitely needed that.

I was brought up Roman Catholic and whilst I agree with the morals of a Christian I can honestly say that God has done nothing for me.
