Has anyone heard anything about the benifits of doing a yeast flush? I read that Jenny McCarthy used one with her son and claimed it helped with his autisim but are there additional benifits for non-austic children. Maybe helping children with allergies and/or asthma? Where do you get them anyway?

I actually just started this for my whole family. We have stopped eating all sugar, grains and high glycemic index foods. We are taking a saccharomyces boulardii supplement for one week (it's a type of yeast that kills candida yeast), and then we will start taking HLC Mindlinx probiotics. You can continue the probiotics for as long as you like, although you shouldn't have to stay on them forever. There are a lot of other products out there, but the ones we are using were recommended by an MD who practices preventive medicine.

I have also been using this website as a reference for the diet.

So far, so good. Both my kids have food sensitivities and really bad allergies and no one has had any flare-ups since we started this.

Quoting Beth:

Can you do the yeast cleanse without taking probiotics? I would love to be able to take them, but live overseas right now and am not sure if I will be able to find good ones. Also, tips for weaning kids off high-glycemic index foods? The only vegetables my four-year old eats are carrot sticks and steamed broccoli. Do you just go "cold turkey" on them, or would that traumatize his relationship with food too much?

I don't think it would work without the probiotics, but they don't have to be refrigerated when they're unopened, so you should be able to get them shipped. Also, if you can get kefir where you are, that has a lot of really good probiotics in it. I would go cold turkey off the white flour and white rice stuff and anything with processed, refined sugar or corn syrup. Just keep putting good stuff on the plate and encourage him/her to eat it but don't push. My 5 year old may only eat 1 or 2 of the 4 or 5 things on his plate, but if everything on the plate is nutritious, it doesn't really matter which things he eats or how much. It's gotten him to start eating a lot of leafy green vegetables that I never would have imagined he would eat.

I like what Maia had to say. I have never heard of a yeast flush, but I have heard of products that get rid of candida. I'm going to a class on it in March so I'll keep you posted on what I learn. But with the high levels of white sugar and flour, all the refined and processed stuff...it's just a breeding ground for yeast. They yeast wants to be fed so it causes you to crave those foods that make you fat and the yeast happy. I think cleansing the body is always good. I do a kidney/liver/galbladder cleanse once a year and a digestive cleanse once a year and they are both wonderful!

...Any kind of Flushes or Body Cleanses, always do them under supervision of a Doctor, or wellness care. I believe, yeast, colan and liver cleanse are a great way to get rid of allergies and/or dieases. There is another way of living healthy..... don't ever say diet! Eat clean! Organtic foods are the best, fresh blended fruits and vegies, fish,.. only wild!
The real shocker here is... go get yourself an allergie test, believe me you will be sooooo surprise, yea even you, the who thinks their not allergic to anything. I didn't think so either... found Iam allergic to suger, wheat, egg and soy..... thats right!
Whatever you do, I beg you DO NOT EAT FAST FOODS, or let your children. They will kill you.... No nutrients! All chemicals! Get the Book by Kevin Trideau, some thinks he's "fishy"..... If you have commen sense, then use it.... I wish everyone the best in everything you do!!! EAT CLEAN, SWIM, WALK, FOOD SUPPLEMENTS, and SUNSHINE.......NO JOKE,,,,SMILE!!!
