I was just listening to a program and I thought they made a very good point. The host compared George Tiller's coverage to the coverage of the soldier who was killed in Little Rock. The only network that covered the Little Rock murder was Fox. I know all you on the left hate Fox with a passion, but why do you think there was no coverage of that story on the other networks?

Both stories were equally sensational, so why not cover both?

OReilly isn't my fav either. He seems very pompous and since I watch and listen and read so much, I can tell when he is wrong. Hannity is okay, but I don't believe everything he says because he is clearly a partisan. Glenn Beck is a conservative and completely fair. He calls the repubs fools, he calls the dems fools. The thing I like about him is that he doesn't claim to be a journalist. He is very forthright about who and what he is. That is a big reason I cannot stand Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann. KO said he didn't vote in the last election because he didn't "want to have a horse in the race". Does he think we are all that dumb? And Chris Matthews just bothers me, he's creepy to me and he can be just as bad as OReilly as far as yelling at people, he just does it with a smile on his face :) I still watch him though. I enjoy yelling at the tv from time to time :) lol. Olbermann...as soon as his show comes on, I change it as fast as I can, unless I'm feeling froggy.

I agree with you about the "talking heads" I can't stand Matthews, Olbermann (sp?), or O'reilly, I think they all just yell over each other and never let their guests talk. Not to mention they are all so clearly biased for their respective sides. I do like Glenn Beck on FOX, but truthfully I don't watch most of it because there is no such thing as a "no spin zone". I usually get my news from CNN, but I only will read certain people's articles because again most people are clearly biased. Another website I like to check out is drudgreport.com it takes stories from all over and for the most part just gives the story. It is unfortunate that reporters can't just tell the story without making it obvious how they feel about it.

I am a liberal and I do flip through and watch all the networks coverage of the issues and honestly I take what all the different political commentators say with a grain of salt. I do enjoy Chris Matthews but I don't always agree with him. I have more issues with certain people on FOX because of the use of incendiary language that to me unfortunately only incites certain fringe groups that do in usually refer to FOX News in their tirades as thier source of information. I do believe in journalistic responsiblity which I have to agree with some of you is less often displayed by many journalists instead we now have more sensationalist reporting from caricatures. It seems like many of the political hosts use explosive language for their viewership numbers rather than do responsible journalistic opinion pieces, because words can incite others in a dangerous way they should be more enlightened with how they approach things. I personally enjoy MSNBC morning show with Joe Scarrbough. I think that the show actually provides a middle ground look at every subject because it contains commentary from people on every side in a way that is respectful and not inciteful. It also allows for people to call out their own party for its faults.

I have personal issues with commentators like Hannity on FOX whom I have heard numerous times give inaccurate historical information as a way to perpetuate their opinion as a historian that really makes me angry because I feel that some people who watch him do not know better and are unfortunately getting their historical information which is incorrect for him which only holds up our substandard intellectual understanding of our own history and it saddens me and bothers me when people say well I heard on Hannity. As for Keith Olberamn well I do enjoy watching him occassionally for entertainment purposes but not for information, because I do think sometimes he crosses the line and comes off way to holier than thou but I will be the first to call him out and admit his inaccurricies. I just would like to hear the same from the other side concerning FOX commentators like O'Reilly who do go too far as well and seem to be more about selling their next book. I mean I watched O'Reilly a few times and I am not exaggerating but he spent more time talking about his book and arguing with his guests whose book sold more copies. It just seemed rather ridiculous and he himself has admitted on other shows that he does use explosive language and go overboard to incite interest and to entertain...that to me does not speak as journalism, but not much these days does because most shows spend more time on Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, and whether Brad and Angelina are fighting then they do on diplomatic and foreign affairs and we wonder why each generation becomes more complacent and less educated when it comes to things outside of the pop culture.

All the news gives us anymore is the doom and gloom report or a sensationalist coverage of some ridiculous topic. I do have to say that I think that what some shows like AC 360 were trying to do with the coverage of Tiller's murder was as Anderson Cooper stated bring both sides out to talk about this in detail in order to head of any further violence that could have occurred because of what had happened, because there is always the fear when it comes to ideological issues that it can get to over heated and spill over into violent reactions. As for military coverage well my husband is in the miltiary and has been deployed four times in a war zone personally I do not watch any news reports too much when he is gone but when I do I spend more time watching CNN and that is because a large number of the footage used by CNN of the military in Iraq and Afghanistan is actualy footage shot by combat cameramen and women deployed in those areas. My husband was a combat camerman for 6 years in the ARMY before he switched to MI , so when I watched CNN I was able to see his footage that way when I talked to him I was able to tell him I saw his work, plus my husband is not a big fan of FOX News because of Geraldo's stupidity in reporting troop movements and where troops were at when the DOD did not want the info out there.

Yeah greta's and geraldo's show annoys me, it seems like they are always talking about stupid stuff. Fox beats them all in the ratings though so i think thats why liberals are mad. They lost air america because no one listened and now they are losing ratings on tv

The only thing I don't like about Fox is how they report stupid stuff, like Britney Spears crap or the high speed police chases and stuff. The morning show can be kind of sensational, almost Weekly World News like. The actual news reports are more fair, though, in my opinion.

I think its funny how those who hate Fox and complain about its bias saw nothing wrong with Matthews and Olbermann anchoring voter tallies. I didn't see O'Reilly doing that!

I know liberals hate fox news but i really do think they show both sides with their reporting. They have more conservative based opinion shows but as for just reporting the news they do a great job with it. I remember when my fiance was in Iraq and i was watching the news on CNN and MSNBC and i couldn't take it. They did not report anything good. That's when i started watching Fox. They reported good with the bad i made it so much easier on me.

I wish I had the article now, but back during the election they did a study of the different news networks and they found that the other networks were liberal like 90% of the time, where as Fox news was conservative like 60% of the time. So Fox is actually more middle of the road, but because everything else is so left it makes Fox seem extremely right. Funny how just bringing up a few conservative issues makes the network completely right. :-)

Oh, Lindsay...I think its safe to say real journalism had been on life support way before 08. lol

Because one was about a muslim killing our troops because of his religion and the other was about a baby killing hero being murdered. The left doesn't want to report that there are people that still want to kill our troops and us because of their religion so they choose to ignore that story.

They would rather talk about how crazy pro lifers are and lump them in with the man who shot tiller, even though this man was mentally ill and was not an actual member of any pro life group. Real journalism died in 08.
