Republicans see political opportunity in Obama's response to failed terrorist bombing

Now really is this the time to be playing politics? Or in the case of Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) fund raising off of the foiled attempt? Is this not the time to work together to figure out how to fix a system with holes?

Never mind the fact that the counter terrorism system in place now is one that the former admin istration put in place. Never mind the fact that is the former administration took 6 days to respond in any way to a similar happening on a Miami bound flight in Dec 2001. (shoe bomber-Richard Reid) Where was the blustering then? That was just after 9/11 to boot. Never mind the fact that it seems the republican party likes to thrive off Americans fears instead of putting forth actual solutions.

When will they stomp blustering and actually DO something? When will they actually stop the fear mongering and let Obama's plan succeed or fail on their own? Is it really beneficial to live in a country that knows nothing but fear? Is that really their plan on how to get back into office?

Under Obama all you know is fear... let us back in we'll fix it! (Just forget that we were the ones that dropped the ball in the first place)

i am completely disgusted with the way the right wing turns everything in to obamas fault. also with the right wingers lies!! i have never ever heard of a left winger conspiracy theory about a right wing presidential candidate. i've heard so many times that obama is a terrorist, simply because his name happens to be barack hussein obama. i've also heard ridiculous things about him not actually being a citizen of the united states. wtf else does this man have to do to prove that he was born in hawaii-which, by my last count is a state. i've also heard stories from the right saying when he was sworn in he was going to use the quran instead of the bible. first of all, so what if he did. pretty sure we have freedom of religion in this country. second -he didn't, nor was ever planning to.
i'm so sick of all the lies that the right tries to spread. why don't they use logic and common sense to get their point across-it might actually work. but then again when they have no logic or common sense, it's kinda hard to do.

No....but I do live in the state of Georgia and some people here actually thought when the country of Georiga was being invaded by Russia that it meant the state was under Russian attack so by proximity of geographical ignorance I may be adjacent to Russia.

Quoting Joy "the historian":

I'll run against Palin in 2012 if she becomes the nominee.

It would be perfect....I am a nice looking lady who wears glasses, I look hot in knee boots and skirt, I have the patriotism thing covered with the dad retired from the Army and the husband in the Army, I am actually educated in American history, political science..intially I was in undergrad school for law and studied and took loads of Constitutional law classes,I went to highschool in small Alabama town for a while so I got the "real" folks covered, I understand as well as keep up with Foreign policy, I have two adorabe young kids, Oh and I am great at Geography.

I may not have her "political experience" because I have not served half of a governors term but I fail to see any issue with that..seeing how I would answer questions not dodge them and then blame the media for trying to trick me with such blatantly liberal questions..... like what newspapers do you read or what Supreme Court ruling have you disagreed or agreed with.

But Joy...can you see Russia from your house?

Anyone seen V for Vendetta?...I watched it again last night, and couldn't believe how relevant it is to American Politics right now. I am sick of Republican/Conservative fear-mongering, and I am sick of the Dems cowtowing to their bullsh#@! I am sick of an American public that eats this crap up with a spoon and asks for more. I want a government that accomplishes something...I don't want to watch this soap opera anymore...I gave them up in college.

I personally don't see opportunity in this kind of politics , because these people (the terrrorists) are always going to test our 'fences'. It's a driving force for them no-matter who's president. As long as we stand as the USA and as long as Islam extremest proclaim ongoing war declared against the American 'infidels'.

What I find really upsetting is how are these attackers going to be tried? This will speak volumes to me. BO had nothing to do with that attack, and from what I gathered he was all over 'How?' this could slide past the check points, but on the other side of that how will he make sure justice is carried out, that's where I need my president to come through, now the ball is in his court.

As far as a political party siezing an opportunity, this is a pattern that has been building for a very long time. I thought it climbed when Clinton was in, and when Bush was in it was relentless, and as the patteren goes forward I figure it's only getting warmed up.

Honestly when did our politicians decide that they need to be part of the Entertainment field in the arena of DRAMA?

Disclaimer: this is a rant that will offend some people.....

I am so tired of the Democrats being the ones willing to find a way to compromise, willing to stand together as one and find a way to deal with things that threaten ALL of us while most Republicans think of the word compromise as meaning our way or no way at all and look at every event and threat as a political opprotunity to be used to smash down the Democrats so they can regain thier political power.

I use to be a Liberal that was willing to compromise for the greater good who understood that the person who represents us must operate from the middle because they represent all of us not just the population that voted for them...BUT AT THIS POINT I AM DONE. I am tired of all the absurd fear mongering wacked out conspiracy finger pointing mudane lazy BS coming out of the Republican party and some of the so called middle ground blue dog Democrats. The only thing they have accomplished lately is dividing this nation along the lines of bigotry and ignorance. At this point I am all for exercising some Democratic SCREW you method. Screw it because Obama and the Democrats are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

The Republicans will complain no matter what is done and point out the stupidist shit when possible. Democrats need to do what needs to be done instead of appeasing the morons who are covered in shit and have yet to answer for all the screw ups that happened during the last administration which they happily stood behind and championed for 8 years. Guess what the crap is broke it is time to fix it with some intelligent decisions...intelletualism does not equate elitism..no it is about discussing all the options and making the best viable choice that will hopefully result in the safest outcome and surest outcome.

If the other side continuely thrawts any efforts to work together then they should should be sent back home where they can pitch their little toddler fits so that the rest who actually want to make things better can do their jobs without constantly having to stop to deal with some dramatic tantrum.

Someone I know put it really well -- after 9/11, the Democrats were holding hands with Republicans and praying on the steps of the Capitol. They could have made so much political hay out of that memo that Condi Rice ignored. Instead, they tried to work with their adversaries to make the country safer.

If 9/11 had happened when Clinton was in office, I would bet my best shoes that the right-wing would have been calling for his head before the ashes of the WTC had even cooled off.
