My daughter is too young for this, but...

Hello, ladies! I have an 8 month old daughter, so she is too young to discipline yet (although I am trying to teach her what "no" means as young as possible)... But I joined this community anyway, because I plan on trying my hardest to never have to resort to a spanking. My siblings and I got spankings as children, but we weren't overly spanked, and I don't feel resentful towards my parents at all because of it. I know they say people tend to parent like their parents did, but I want to avoid spanking at all costs. So for now I'm just here to observe and see what strategies other parents use, and I'm sure I will be joining in the conversations more when my daughter gets a little older. I'm glad to find this community!

I'm with Dana, it's never to early to start!

The relationship you are building on now become the basis for solving all future problems. Positive bahaviour strategies means being consistent as this makes a child feel safe, and it starts the day they are born. Often it is about the tone of your voice and has lots to do with communication and the basics on your communication system is also already in place.

Also feel free to join conversations, you do not need to be talking from experience, your opinion can be valueable, even if it is not a fail proof tried and tested rule.

Hi Cynthia! We're glad to have you......like the other ladies said, please don't be shy! Feel free to jump in or start a new conversation.......doesn't just have to be about behaviour issues!

I commend you for joining this community in hopes to prepare yourself more as your (adorable by the way) daughter gets older.......it's never too early to start! Knowing HOW you want to discipline and setting your own boundaries is an excellent start!
