I would say in this community one of our aims is for our children to grow up and value themselves and others. I consider myself to be rather conservative, I also have faith (I just don't bang on about it) but then I got to thinking really how conservative would i be viewed by others. I put great thought and time in to teaching my children to respect themselves and others, I don't believe in skimpy clothes for young girls, I don't like drunkeness, if people want to have a glass of wine OK but it seems wierd to me that people want to get drunk or to drink regularly. Obviously if they do that's none of my business but it's just not for me. I believe when you have children you are not number one all the time, I do not mean by this that your life should stop just that you need to make decisions with your childrens needs in mind and find the right balance. I want them to be with people who value them and who in turn they value, I don't want them to settle.
So to my point having viewed a few debates recently I thought to myself where do I stand on various issues. For instance I think prostitution should be legal, why shouldn't we have a safe enviroment for men/women to use their bodies in a business transaction, if this is what they wish to do. If my daughter wanted to be a stripper would I think it was the best career choice, maybe not but she has the right to choose to earn money that way, I wouldn't judge anyone for that. Pornography(I'm talking the legal stuff), not for me but hey if you want to do it as a job go for it. I would on the other hand be upset if they turned into lying grovelling well paid politicians. I find myself in a strange position of actually being supportive of many things people feel are morally objectionable.
Thought anyone?
Please note that due to my sciatica i am on some heavy medication today so that whole post may read as though it was written by an illiterate drunk :)
