Is having a postpartum doula a must have or a luxury?

Did you hire a postpartum doula after the birth of your baby? If yes, what was your experience? Did it help? Would you recommend your postpartum doula?

If not, would you want to next time?

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

I did have a doula after all of three of my children were born. If you can afford to do it, you should. I would do it again and highly recommend it.

I struggled with postpartum depression, but didn't even seek help until after my third child. Big mistake!! But anyway, the most difficult part of the day for me was the evenings, so the duola would come at 10pm and stay till 7am. Therefore, I could sleep through the night. Since I was breastfeeding, I would pump so she could feed the baby during the night. She also helped with any issues we were having with feeding, sleeping, etc.
