my four and a half year old daughter will not poop on the potty. she had been potty trained to pee in the potty since she was 2 but continually has accidents in her pants. i have tried almost everything to get her to go in the toilet. she wears underwear, have tried rewards, have tried taking things away from her and have even tried making her go naked. she is very excited and tells everyone when she does poop in the potty or goes a whole day with no accidents but still poops in her underwear on a consistent basis. we have told her that she can't go to school if she poops and that too does not seem to faze her. my husband and i are at our wits end and do not know what to do. starting to see the same pattern in our 3 year old too!

My daughter was the same way. What we did was that everytime she pooped in her panties/pull-ups we would say "oops! Lets go put that where it belongs in the potty" and then together we would go into the bathroom and dump the poop into the potty. We would finish wiping/cleaning up, flush the toilet, and wash our hands.

Being consistent in bringing the poop into the bathroom and putting it into the toilet (expecially with her helping) seemed to work. After about 3 weeks of this, she started sitting and trying to go on her own. Now she does it 90% of the time.
