Ok do not be disturbed about this suggestion.......as a mother to five grown children I had to do this with 4 and it works. Put the poop from the diaper in the potty; do a WHOO HOO there is poop in the potty.......take a picture and more Whoo Hoo and let your little one flush it in the big potty and yet another whoo hoo for poop in the potty. Don't be suprised if your youngster wants to take a picture of every poop in the potty for awhile.............it works! They may even want to just transfer it from the diaper for a bit to but you just gained ground on don't be afraid to have poop in the potty.
In our house the uncles even helped celebrate our Granddaughters first poop in the potty and we all did the poo poo dance! She is 18 months and very close to being potty trained. She runs for the potty now with her toy camera in hand...............I know it sounds crazy but the bigger the celebration the more they want too......I mean who hates a party! I hope this helps some of you...........Happy Training~

I've got the same issue right now. My daughter is 3 and just started peeing on the potty a month ago, so I don't want to push it too soon. She tells me when she has to go and I put a diaper on. Each time I ask her if she wants to try to sit on the potty with the diaper on, but she wants to go hide in her "spot" to go. I have offered extra stickers (in addition to the ones she gets when she pees), M&M's, and I have a toy wrapped and sitting on the back of the toilet for when she puts the poop in the potty. I think I will try that camera suggestion too. Good luck everyone!

My daughter is almost 3 and just finally started pooping in the potty and telling me when she has to go pee!!!! Yea! She has been in panties for a week now and just a few accidents, and getting better all the time! She would pee on the potty all the time but would never tell me when she had to go. So unless i remembered, she would wet her pull up. That has taken a year. Now she is finally telling me. I started using jelly beans and that helped. Another mom had told me that her daughter would not poop on the potty either and her dr. finally prescribed miralax for her and that made it easy for it to come out and she started to poop on the potty finally. I didn't have to do that with my daughter but was starting to consider asking my Dr. about it cause I knew constipation/hard to get out poop was at least part of the problem. Hopefully mine wont reverse any, she starts preschool in a week! But just to give hope, even if it seems they will never try Im sure eventually they will, mine did and I am thrilled!

I have a 2 and a half year old daughter who refuses to poop in the potty too!!! She did it once and we tried a freak out potty dance and called all the family members who told her they were so proud of her and I even gave her a skittle. Now she refuses to poop on the potty but still says..."I'm gonna get a skiiitttllleee" and sits there and pretends like she is trying to poo!!! I am so frustrated She pee's just fine and loves to go potty but she also has constipation issues and I think that's were her fear stems from. She'll say she has to go poo and sit on the potty for like an hour and then get up and immediately hide in her closet and poop. I have been reading all the posts and it feels good to know that other moms feel like me!!!! I'm going to try the camera thing...I am desperate!!!!

I never really thought I was a lone on this but after reading all the responses I don't have much hope. Randy is going to be three the end of this month. He will always pee in the potty but he will not poop. Screams and freaks out when I tell him to try to put the poop in the potty. We will get off he will run in his room and poop in the corner in his underwear. I have tried putting the potty in his room that just mad him mad. He didn't want the potty in his room. We made potty charts with reward stickers and when its full we go somewhere. Which this worked awesome for getting him to pee in the potty. So we decided to step it up. Randy love airplanes and helicopters so i bought a bunch of the macthbox ones and they sit un opened in a basket in the bathroom. He just screamed and cried for the toys for a few weeks. I tried the whole putting the poop from his underwear in the potty and doing the celebrating but then it just seemed like it was ok to poop in the underwear. Good Luck everyone but it looks like the kids will poop in the potty when they are ready. I have become one with it and life it much less stressful.

WOW! I don't feel alone anymore. It kind of is embarassing when your soon to be 4 year old will not poop in the potty only pee most of the time. My soon to be 4 year is behind on alot of things but she has been potty trained for the peeing part during the day and still will not poop in the potty. She will run and put a pull-up with out me knowing and poop in it, and I didnt' know she did that until she comes out with a pull up on saying she is stinky. I was told that once they are daytime potty trained with the peeing that the pooping in the potty will come about 2 months afterwards. Well guess what is 12months afterwards and still no pooping in the potty.

I cant keep cleaning dirty underware, so im going back to pull ups(just for #2) ...im reading alot of you are having this problem, but with 3 yr olds...being that my son is 4(bday in march) i really think something is wrong. Am i wrong? Is this ok? Im fusturated with not understanding lol...i wish i could travel inside his head...pls any suggestions to shine light on the situation or to just tell me im not alone lol

I'm thinking Shaely may be on to something. My 2 year old has peed in the potty but seems nervous about going poop in the potty. I did what Shaely said once and he thought that was pretty cool. Now, he's regressed on the peeing some. He seems afraid to put it in the potty as though it's wrong or a "mess". We did a big dance and party thing and he still struggles with it. But we are going to keep doing it. He seemed to like the party and maybe it will click again. He's big on pointing out messes and we've responded by agreeing with him that a mess is indeed a mess. Now he's associating that with pee and poo in the potty - it's a mess and must be wrong. ACCKK! My other two took until about 2 1/2 but didn't have this issue. My daughter was just stubborn - she hasn't wanted to "grow up" on any level, my older son was all into it but just didn't want to stop playing to go. I've never run into a child like this so it's nice to see he's not the only one. Do your kids tend to not like messes or like things in in order? Maybe this is a personality thing. Do they really get over it and actually start using the potty?? I'll keep you posted as to if the WOO-HOO-party-take-a-picture-of-the-poo-in-the-potty-thingy works. :)

Glad I'm not alone, my son is 3 and will pee on the potty just fine, but when it comes to pooping he has only done it once. Every other time he screams and crys until I take him off. I even tried gummy bears when I noticed he was crouching in a corner but he didn't go! In due time is what I'm told but I would love in due time to be now! :) We'll just all have to hang in there!

I know I am sick of tired of cleaning poopy underpants.. My dr. tells me the same thing- it will happen when she is ready.. But in the mean time, I have family members saying- oh there's something wrong with her if she won't poop in the potty.. ah people!

I thought I was alone!!! My daughter just turned 3, and she also will not poop in the potty. She will ask for a lull-up, do her thing and asked to be changed back to her underwear. She never has a pee accident! I have tried bribes, awards, stickers, telling her we are out of pull-ups. Nothing seems to work. She tells me "someday Mommy" any suggestions would be sooo helpful.

i'm in the same boat with my 4yrs n' 8 months old boy(though he is mentally handicapped at a 3yr old level right now). he goes pee in the toilet, even lifts the seat, but we can't get him to poop in the toilet. He poops in the evenings after he gets home from preschool, so as soon as he's in the door I throw him into a pullup because he kept pooping in the underwear...we try to sit him on the toilet and he just starts crying and hyperventilating and screaming "I'm clean Mommy! I'm clean!" and as soon as we let him off the toilet he's pooping his pants ten minutes later...all my pediatrician says is "all in due time" ....she obviously doesn't have a 7wk old infant to also clean up after....
