I am having the normal issues like everyone else with potty training my 3 year old son. I came across the website www.3daypottytraining.com today and was interested in learning the techniques but this ebook currently costs $24.00. I was wondering if anyone else has used this as a potty training tool and if it really works before I consider this option. Thanks!!

We used the 3 Day method...The key I believe is allowing the kids to be bottomless so they can feel when they are wet. My daughter went bottomless for about 2 weeks, then we went to loose fitting pants. Next weeks Panties. She is currently keeping all pants dry. It really works.

I didn't know about the 3 day with my first daughter, but she was potty trained at 22 months. I tried the 3 day with my second daughter. It didn't go well with her. She is day trained now, but still having a hard time at night. She just can't wake up. I'm thinking about doing the 3 day with my son. He 20 months old. When did you start teaching your son? My son is so stuborn and so active I don't know if I could even sit long enough to try to go on the potty.

Abby, you have two boys, and only 2 hands...that is rough, my one boy was tough. We taught him to pee sitting first, standing at one and on his own at 4...I feel for you, wait until 3, then do it, use two people,2 baths...you'll get there. The hard part is just with Irish twins (Liam is less than 2 years from Molls) she wants to go when he does, then they fight over the potty. Earlier the better for you so you don't have to fight about it. Closer to 3 you get the more fights erupt. I waffle, wait to 3 don't wait. good luck and email if you need to.

we just did it. didn't work for us. but i know several people who've had a lot of success. I'm potty training twins too, so that makes it a lot more complicated.

Summer,

The method is you take 3 days - make a big deal of throwing away all their diapers. Straight to undies (20-30 pairs) and pump them full of juice, popsicles (we did sugar free), water, milk, whatever liquids. Follow them around and ask every 5 minutes "Do you have to go potty? - Let Mommy/Daddy know when you have to go". Pee accidents are common, they don't like being wet, but you have to shadow them. watch for cues that they need to go, then rush them to the potty. "We're going to keep our underpants nice and dry" and big kudos when they make it. This takes patience and time. But it does work. Like I stated my daughter caught on right away. My son was harder, 3rd day until we went on the potty and made a sticker chart to help him with poop. we did 4 stickers and he got a used train (we bought a bunch on ebay). Every child has a different time limit. The reason I kept them in pullups is both when I trained were in cribs, it is impossible for them to get out and go potty by themselves, that was my choice. I think the more communication you have the better, but as long as they understand and can respond yes or no. We stayed close to home for a week, even with my daughter who got it right away because it takes awhile for them to regulate their bladder, not go every 30 minutes. We have a port a potty in the car for emergancies, otherwise, we bring a potty seat with us instead of a diaper bag. My son now needs nothing, goes anywhere anytime. - email if you need more help!

Staci (and everyone else),

I have heard about that program. So if I understand about what you all are saying you put them in ONLY undies (i have a girl..2.5years old) during the day (and just keep cleaning them up,etc) and maybe pull ups during the night till they get the hint? What do you do out in public?????? Any suggestions on how to deal with a toddler who doesnt talk clear yet...on getting them to understand what you are saying about the potty???

I used this method for my son now 4.5 and my daughter 2.5. It's a keeper. Both of mine were in pull ups at night, but my son will came off of them at 4 when he woke up dry. I was okay leaving him in pull ups overnight. It did not seem to confuse either of them at all. My son took 4 days to pee, a week to poop, but in her book she has that addressed for kids that take longer. My daughter took 8 hours, no accidents since day 1. Not one poop accident...it really does work.

this is encouraging....I had the same exact question about whether this book works or not. I'm going to try this weekend to enforce using the potty consistently and if it does not work I am going to order this book!

YES it totally works!! I am so amazed! My 29 month old son got it down totally by the afternoon on the 3rd day. You do have to follow what she says, but it seriously works and I reccomend it to all my friends

Hi Wendy, yes, the diapers/pull ups are considered crutches. I was so nervous to say goodbye to them, but I understand that for the kid, there is no better way to learn. Going back and forth between undies and pull ups would be confusing to them.

So with the 3 day method do you just put your tot in underwear and forego the diapers and/or pullups all together? Even at night and naptime?

Yes, I just started it yesterday with my 29 month old daughter and we are having good success with it. I think it is worth every penny, if it saves you a month of diapers. It is so nice to have one method to use and to be consistent with it.
