HELP

my 18 month old has this and i was woundering how it will effect the whole potty training thing she has had it since she was 2 weeks old used the cream it opened and then a month later started closing we moved and her new doc doesnt seem to want to address it it takes me a week using tention and bag balm to open it then over night closes again its a roller coaster. how do i potty train her with this

Yes, we're in the middle of potty training. She is on the same cream. She's closed up about 4 times since using it. She'll be 2 next month. We haven't had the issues of UTI. In between the use of premarin cream are you using vaseline or lanolin (breastfeeding ointment)? We were directed after using the premarin for 2 weeks to use vaseline or lanolin on the same area for 6-8 months to prevent it from closing again. We apply after each diaper/potty change.

Thanks Sonia,
She is on a cream called Parmarin and we have had to use it alot!!! Even with the cream we have had the talk about surgery a few times!!! She has been hospitalized once with a UTI and has had about 4 in total, doing alot better now that she is older!!! I have tired looking at the technical papers about this but still haven't found anything about potty training in them... Have you potty trained yet?

My daughter had (has) a fused labia too. I took her to her pediatrician. It happens amongst 2% of girls. It is strongly recommended that your doctor prescribe an estrogen. It will open back up in 2 weeks. You may have to use it again if it closes up again. However, if you don't get it treated, when she hits puberty, she will have to get surgery. Also, having urine trapped is not safe. It could cause a urinary infection. Avoid bubble baths and allow her to breath. You could also google "closed labia" and some technical papers will come up.

We seen her Dr about this but last time i was there we wern't potty training yet so didn't ask the questions like i will next time LOL... I was thinking about a urologist too... she is also 2

Hi, maybe if she saw an urologist they might have some advice or tips to help you both. My little guy uses the toilet but at first I would have him sit in front of the tv or read a book with me (the longer the better) on the potty chair. How old is she?

I would take her to your family doctor. She may be able to help you with this problem.
