How can I keep my 20 month old happy on a 5 hour flight?

I agree with the portable dvd. My son has done our 18hrs flight 4 times so far, he's been really good so far, but now the he's more mobile I know he will want to run/walk the aisles. I've downloaded several of his favorite shows onto our IPOD, he loves it and can sit still for hours. Also, while they may not understand the concept of those electronic games (you know the travel size like Yahtzee) get something where they can push buttons, they love that. I just got our son Mess Free Color Wonders by Crayola and he loves it. He can paint with his fingers, not worrying about messy clothes or writing on the seats, trays and all around.

if possible, pick a flight that is close to nap time or bed time. then, hopefully, your little one will sleep through part of it. Also, pack lots of snacks. portable dvd player is a good idea, books, crayons. walking the aisle helps too :) change of scenery if needed. take your little one to the bathroom with you if you can lol. anything that may help. Toys that they enjoy. more snacks lol. Make the flight as much about the child as possible. make it an adventure (because you know it will be) Good luck

Here are some websites that might have ideas also:

wow that is a long time. i have a hard time keeping mine good in the car for an hour. but ive got some ideas. let your baby walk up and down the aisle once in a while. you can take a portable dvd player and a few movies. we give my daughter a flashlight and let her shine it on the celing in the car. also you can take a few toys, coloring book and crayons and lots of snacks! good luck!
