How do you get a 3 year old boy to quit pooping his pants? .

My son won't stop pooping his pants. We have tried being patient. We have tired rewards, and cheers. We have tried being mad at him. I am ashamed to say I have even tried making him wear it for about 1/2 hour after he did it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This may not be a solution for your son, but it worked for mine after he'd been successful for months and then started pooping in his underwear (when his new baby sister came home from the hospital). We removed all of his "big boy" toys (literally left him with only rattles) and told him when he was ready to be a big boy again he could make the choice to get his toys back by pooping in the potty. One accident later, and he was ready for his toys back and he started pooping in the potty again. I think giving my son the power to choose seemed to help him the most.

You might also trying having him help you clean it up... and let him run around with a bare butt for a while when it's about time for him to go.

Just because he is peeing in the potty full time doesn't mean he is ready to go poop in the potty. My daughter was peeing in the potty full time for a YEAR and still pooped in her pants. We did everything that you did and still nothing worked, unfortunately it just takes time, it can get very aggrevating. Right now I am in the process of training my 2 1/2 year old daughter which happens to be my 3rd kid and she is way more stubborn than her sister. She is refusing to use the potty altogether, I have even brought her into the bathroom with me and she isn't interested. I just keep trying, I know she won't be in diapers for ever!

I definately feel for you! I wish I knew the answer. However I have the same problem with my 2yr old daughter. Hang in there!
