How do you transition from a potty chair to the adult toilet?

My 2 yr old son is potty trained in the house during awake hours. HOWEVER, he needs to wear diapers when we go out in public b/c he doesn't use the adult toilet yet. Whenever I have tried to place him on the toilet, he seems scared. He has also shown little interest in standing to pee. I have heard of some people carrying a small toilet seat around to use in public restrooms, but I don't really care to do that. He also would need a stood to be able to stand and pee in the toilet. He has watched his dad, but still isn't interested? ANY ideas? How do you make the transition???

he will get it in time my little fellow was d same i bought him a thomas d tank engine toilet seat and he loved 2 sit on it ,i know it is awkard takin d toilet seat wit u wen u go out but eventually he wont need any seat my sml fellow stands up now an pee's in d toilet it is al a process they av 2 go through he will get it in his own time!!

I have a daughter and I am having this issue also. She seems deathly afraid of the big potty, I put her potty seat on the big potty, show her its still her little potty, and then sit her on it, and she cries "no mama, hold you mommy!" which is Jade talk for pick me lady, I don't use the big potty. lol. I am going to keep trying to put her on it though. I even put her on it and the I sit facing her on the stool and put my arms around her, and she still isn't interested. It's crazy, Good Luck!!

If he doesnt like the potty there might not be one. you might want to try and get him used to useing the big potty at home first. you could get a potty seat and a stoot for him to use at home. my daughter like the big potty better than the little one because of those extra 2 little things. Just make a big deal out of it by saying something like oooh my you are a big boy now and big boys like you and daddy use the big boy potty. I trained my younger brother oooh my about 10 years ago and he was scared of the potty but he loved it when i put cheerios in the potty and told him to sink the battleships. im sorry i dont have any more ideas because i have 2 girls and thats all i remember from potty training my little brother hope this helps at least a little
