I know every child is different, but just wondering how long it took for the child to catch on and start asking? then how long till they were daytime potty trained? Lastly how should i go about night time training my daughter? Thanks so much for all the feedback :)

well I have a 3 1/2 year old and he refuses to get on the potty I just had a baby last August she is 5 months and I think that is why he doesn't want to go. He seems like he wants to but then just won't. He wont even tell me he has a poop. Should I push it or just wait? I don't know what to do any suggestions would be helpful.

My oldest son was 2yrs & 3mths when hes stop wearing diapers day and night but my almost 3 yr old doesn't seem to have a clue when he even needs to go! my almost 2 year old has used the toilet more than him! I'm now going to try Elmo's Potty Time Movie to encourage him. We ask him every 20mins or so and he watches his dad and older brother but nothing yet!

Thanks for the responses, I haven't been able to get on the computer, as it was just my daughter's 2nd birthday so we've been very busy. I'm afraid we've messed up our potty training schedule tho, She was doing so well, but I noticed if there were too many people around she wouldn't want to miss anything so she wouldn't ask to go, so we decided to put her into diapers for her birthday party, and now she's back in underwear and doesn't want to ask to go. So we'll start over again spending days in the bathroom starting tomorrow, I'm sure she'll get it as she almost had it once before....good luck to all the other moms out there :)

im currently toilet training my daughter who is 2yrs 4months. she is waking up dry from her daytime naps and quite often her overnight sleeps aswell.. she is getting to the point she loves her 'big girl knickers' so much she doesnt want to take them off in exchange for a nappy at sleep times. to keep the peace i simply let her leave her knickers on and put a nappy over the top and tell her thats for 'just in case' which she seems happy enough with.

i only started toilet training her less than a month ago but she caught on within a matter of two-three days and we havent had an accident since. if they are ready and you have the time to be persistant she should have no troubles being toilet trained very quickly.

I started training my 2 yr 9 month old son on Dec. 26.  We have to constantly remind him about the potty and tell him to tell us when he has to go.  Sometimes he'll say he needs to go but usually it's us telling or reminding him.  He still poops his undies.  My sister's daughter at age 2 was fully potty trained after a couple wks.   It all depends on the child but if you switch to undies and they just aren't getting it then they may not be ready.  This is actually my second time training my son.  The first time he was 22 months old and I switched back to diapers after 5 months of him consistently pooping and sometimes peeing his undies.  As far as night time goes...quit drinks 2 hrs before bed and tell her to go potty before bed.  Switch to undies at night when she's consistently dry.  Try to get in there when she first wakes up so you know she's not going while waiting for you.  When I switched to undies on Dec. 26 I was putting him to bed with them on and every other morning he was wet so I went to a pull up at night.  The pull up has been dry almost every morning since so I'm switching back to undies tonight.  Wish me luck!  Oh and my lifesaver for the bed has been these waterproof pads you can lay on top of the sheets.  I found them at Walmart in the baby section.  The brand name was Baby Connection.  I love them and can't believe the pee doesn't go through.  Then I don't have to strip the bed every other night if he's having a bad week.  Good luck with all.  I have had a really frustrating time potty training and it helps to see there's others out there like me.
