Is it too soon to put a 2 year old in undies?

My just turned 2, stepdaughter has been potty training for almost 6 months now. She started on a potty and a feww weeks ago we bought her a trainer seat for her toilet so she can step up by herself. We also then introduced pull-ups. For one week she was really good with her pull-ups, only wetting one a day and only if we left it on while she had a nap. She even wore pull-ups to daycare and told the staff when she needed the toilet. The following week however she didnt seem interested in wearing pull-ups anymore. I did notice a slight rash starting to develop when she wore pull-ups and am wondering whether this would effect her eagerness to wear them. My partner asked his ex (stepdaughters mum) what she is using as potty training as my stepdaughter spends weekends with her mum. Apparently at her mums house she runs around in undies with no problems and only wears a nappy for bed/nap time. Whilts I realise the different methods are probably confusing the poor toddler I am concerned that trying to put her in underwear now is too soon. It is ok if she has an accident at home - she has an abundance of clothes to change into. But at daycare its a different story!! Any advice would be a big help! Thanks.

She sounds like she's ready for big girl pants. My 2nd youngest is just trained, at 2 and a half. She wears big girl pants. She was trained almost a year ago, but got a tummy bug so we had to put pull-ups on her for a few days. She quickly realised she could wee in them if she wanted and nothing bad would happen, and had a regression. It was fine because she was so young. pull-ups can discourage training. If her mum thinks she's ready, she probably is. I've seen kids in big kid pants from as young as 18 months, and way cheaper :D

Gerber actually makes toddler potty training undies. I went to target and got my daughter some. They are made like regular undies but they are just a lil thicker. They also hv the plastic covers to go over them to make sure tht if they do hv an accident ur nice things in ur home wont get messed up or smell like urine. When I found them I thought they were a neat way to transition my baby from pampers to undies. To me pull ups are just like a pamper (they still are able to go to the bathroom in them and feel dry) so i only put her in pampers when we are in the car out and about or when she lays down. When we are home i let her run around in her big gurl undies.

If she's fine at her mom's, I second that there is no reason she won't be fine at yours. Try her for a weekend and see how she does, she might surprize you! And warn the daycare teacher ahead of time. Trust me, we teachers are used to accidents in two year olds and even three year olds!

Girls train faster then boys naturally, so I'm not surprized that she's almost ready.

No it not too soon. If she has no problem at her mothers house she shouldn't at yours. Plus getting a rash has got to be painful. It could be fun to take he to the store and let her pick out which ones she wants too. Not to mention the money you will be saving one pull-ups. They are more expensive that diapers. LOL. And i know having to wash sheets is a pain but i wouldnt put a diaper on her at night either so that way she wont have a bed wetting problem when she's older. If they feel it when they are sleeping the need to get up and go. I hope this helps. :)
