my son gabe has for about the past 2 months started takn off his wet or poppy diaper, he lets you know when hes wet. so i figured he was ready to be potty trained, i started puttn him on the potty and he finally after a week went pee pee on the potty. He wont go every time but sometimes, i dont know how to start with the potty training im doing it on my own with no guy here, so i just sit him on there and hold his wee wee down... i just need some feed back if im doing the rite thing and how long it should take.
thanks

well i have the same thing with my son...he is 20 months right now and for the past like 3 months or so every time he has or had a wet diaper he would take his diaper off or if he had clothes on he tries to take his pants off then his diaper..so i started about a month ago trying to potty train him...its been slow going but its working..everytime i go to the batheroom he comes in there with him and i tell him this is what you do when you go potty...and sometimes he feels the urge and runs in the batheroom and sits on his potty and sometimes he dont..so i usually ask him and put him on the potty couple times throughout the day but especially when he wakes up in the morning and from his nap and before he gets in the tub and before bed..he usually sits there awhile before he actually pees in the potty....but it differs for different ages and i heard that boys take longer anyways...so dont worry my advice is try to get a routine going...like when he first wakes up and after his nap and before bathtime and bed...hell get the hang of it...just hang in there

my son started around the same age. (he's 3 now). It wasn't really until he was 2yrs 2mths until he was properly trained. He would do the whole pee pee thing in the potty about 75% of the time. Never poop though. I didn't want to push him though, because I've heard some other parents say that their kids hide to poop the diaper and I didn't want to start some negative association for him in this regard.

Someone told me they had success by taking the poop out of the diaper and ploping it into the potty for the child to see where it is supposed to go. That never worked for me.

What did work....within 3 days start to finish...was I bought him underwear and started letting him wear it for the afternoon. He peed through 6 or 7 underpants...clearly he was not getting it. (he did promplty remove the wet underwear and just ran around naked). Then on the 3rd day he pooped in his underwear.....he was mortified! That was it ...he was potty trained after that point :)
