hello all i decided to put on a post as I have successfully potty trained my little girl Hannah who is almost 2 and 1/2 years old in 5 days :).
We began potty training on monday but I bought hannahs potty about a month ago to introduce it to her. I think this helped alot becuase we did the ground work of 'the pottys for the toilet' etc. long before actually leaving the nappies. Also we switched 2 pull ups when i bought the potty to encourage her 2 pull up her own pants. On monday morning I began with takin hannahs potty from the bathroom and put it into the living room beside her toys (becuase this is where she spends most of her time.) I told her today your going to become a big girl and do all your pee pees in the potty and if you do you'll get a treat. I let her run around and periodically ever 15-20 minutes asked if she needed to pee and if she said no we did a practice run and we made a game of practicing. Day 1 was 100% accidents and i got really stressed about it but i kenw its always the first few days that are diffcult. Day 2 I continued asking if she needed the potty and sure enough she walked over 2 the potty herself and did a pee met with ALOT of praise. I didnt put any pants or training pants on and she seemed to do better without. We tried pants for a few hours on day 3 but she just kept having accidenets so i left them off. Day 4 we used training pants and ventured to town. I brought along the potty in a sport bag and didnt feel 2 worried about carrying it around with me. We had 1 accident but she was playing for a long time and i think she just forgot about the potty but we had 2 successful pottys, where i took her into the toilets and put the potty on the floor against the door. We are now on day 5 and I let hannah choose if she wears her training pants or not and she is doing all her pees in the potty.
All successful pees in the potty get a treat and big hugs and kisses and i think thats what has helped so much. I hope anyone currently potty training finds this helpful :)
