So my son is 2yrs and 8 months old...he is kinda showing intrests but not alot. We had a book we started reading and he seemed alittle ok about it (he didnt say "NO POTTY" like he has before) but i dont know how to start this and get him going...he goes to daycare durning the day and they say he has not interest there..and he goes to daddy every other weekend so at that point i cant put my foot down with his daddy to get it done...so what do i do?? how can i encorage him to do this in the time i have him??

Hi Crystal,

He may not be totally ready to potty train.  Go to www.pottytots.com and go to the parent's page and tips and there you will find information about potty training and signs of readiness.

Kids need to be ready on many levels (physically, cognitively and emotionally)  He may not be making the connection (understanding)  the feeling of having to go potty BEFORE he goes.  It sounds like he is  at least willing to get started. In general, boys take longer to potty train so just be patient and make sure you stay positive throughout the process.  Make it as fun as possible so he wants to go potty and you will both have a better experience.

I created the POTTY TOTS Potty Training program when my own daughter was so resistant to potty training.  It has helped so many toddlers with motivation and consistency because they want to learn "all by themselves" and they can take this knowledge with them wherever they go (daycar, daddy's house)  The kit has a book, animated DVD, illustrated potty chart and a fun little football game with clings to keep track of his progress.  All of this can be taken to his dad's house to reinforce potty training over there.

The main thing to remember is he has to be ready (see signs of readiness) willing and able!  The Potty Tots help with making the process fun and showing them what to do!

Go to www.pottytots.com for more information and to let your son "Play" with the Potty Tots.  If he likes the little friends he may just want to try to learn how to go potty from them!

Hope this helps!
