need help with potty traning

He may not be ready. My son had an interest in the potty around that age. But interest and actually doing it are two different things. After trying for a while I quit and waited for him to decide he was ready. He wasn't completely potty trained til a little after he turned 3. I know people say this a lot but it won't happen if they aren't ready or want it to do it. Trying to force him will just delay it. Hope you can find something that works for the two of you and good luck!

How long have you been training him? My daughter refused to use her little potty when she was about 9 months old, but would use the big potty just fine, now she uses both. It also took 2 weeks tops to completely train her. With accidents the first 2 days. It may just be a phase: being scared of falling in or something. Just keep trying, don't give up! When you put him on his little potty distract him with a toy or a book, sing to him, anything to take his mind off of sitting there. Once he goes in the potty praise him a lot! I assume you are no longer using diapers, but if you are, stop buying them and use cloth training pants instead, once he has an accident, take him to the potty, change his underwear or training pants and let him loose again. I routine trained my daughter (now 19 months). Once she wakes up, before breakfast, before/after nap...etc or just about every 30 minutes. Good luck!
