At what point can you offivcialy throw down the gauntlet and say that your child is potty-trained? I am wondering because my 17 month old daughter tells me when she has to potty, wears "big girl" panties all day, and has 0-2 accidents in a day. BUt she still has problems pulling her panties up and down. Is this just going to take time? She hardly has accidents and she knows that she has to potty, I am just concerned about placing tht label still.

We placed the potty next to the bathtub and when we would start running bath water place her on it at first then just take her when I went and then we moved to a schedule. I am a SAHM so I started with a schedule every 30 minutes actually print it out and tape it to the wall write the results and any accidents down. It took about 3 months once we started the schedule. Once she got down to 2 or less accidents a day we started putting her in real panties during the day.

I would say she is potty trained GREAT JOB. How did you get her potty trained so fast? I would like to have my son potty trained by 18months he just turned a year old any advise on starting with him? I didn't start my 2 year old daughter until 3 months ago and she has an odd accident every few days but I still put her in a pull up at bed time otherwise she's in big girl panties all day.

well done you and her!! once she gets a little older her control will get alot stronger and she will be able to hold her toilet until she reaches the toilet/potty and those1-2 accidents will slowly fade out children can have the odd accident for years!! although they are in control of their bladder. my daughter was potty trained at 18 months but took her ages to be able to pull knickers up and down but we got there slowly!! where as my son was potty trained not much after 18mths and he was brilliant with his pants! try lose knickers maybe a size bigger than what shes in just to make them loser or just soft tracksuit bottoms i found worked brilliant as didnt get twisted like knickers and easy to pull up and down then go back to knickers once she's mastered that! good luck xx
