My daughter will be 3 years old in December. She has been pottie trained since March but will not go poop on the potty. She was doing ok for a while but has completely digressed. We have used charts, various prizes, punishment, good old fashion praise but nothing is working. I need some ideas or advice to get her to go poop on the potty.

my daughter didnt respond to it. so everytime i went i would bring her in with me since her potty was in there and made her sit in there til she did something, then would set the potty in the living room ( when it was just us ) and she just started popping and when she did so we would make it the biggest deal ever

I'm in the same situation as everyone. My oldest son will be three in December and will not poop on the potty. He knows that diapers are not an option for him - he doesn't even ask about them for himself - pooping in the toilet is a rarity. What I do is pay attention. I know he poops in the afternoon when he comes home from daycare Monday through Friday, or a little in the morning if he didn't get enough out the afternoon before. He makes the pushing face and I tell him "stop. poop on the toilet", grab his hand and we run to the bathroom, through off his underwear and put him on the toilet. It's the only thing I can do. Sometimes, I know he's pushing really hard, I let him finish and then we walk to the bathroom, clean him up and we move on. Other times, he will go in the bathroom and poop in his underwear, take the underwear off and dump the poop out of his underwear into the toilet.
Oh funny, one time, he was naked outside and he pooped on the ground. He used his underwear to pick up the poop and put it in the toilet. Then, he put the dirty underwear in the hamper and got clean underwear and brought it to me. It was very responsible I thought. He cleaned up his own mess! And THAT, in it's self, is something!

Im working on that too.. Id love to hear suggestions as well! Both of my kids will pee on the potty but neither seem patient enough to sit there long enough to 'get it out' lol

my son didnt poop on the potty until after his third birthday...he would always ask to go into a diaper or wait until we put him to bed...one morning he was asking to be put in a diaper and i made him sit down on his potty until he went. i bribed him with candy, food, trips and finally what motivated him enough was a popsicle...it is just a matter of when they are ready.
