Miss Maggie is the Potty Tots' preschool teacher and she explains how the Potty Tots Potty Training program works! It is FUN for kids and takes the "power struggle" out of potty training!

Go to www.pottytots.com and check the signs of readiness on the Parents page. If he is truly ready you can start a program for potty training. One of the best things about Potty Tots is that is is a fun way for tots to learn about how to go potty and feel good about themselves. They can see what is expected of them with the colorful charts and love to sing along to the steps of potty training with the animated DVD music videos. The stoy revolves around two little tots that are going to preschool and want to learn how to go potty to be like their other friends. You can check out a sample music video and meet the Potty Tots and play games with them online. If your son likes the tots he will be more motivated to try the program. Good luck and let me know if I can help any further!

Sorry so long in replying, this didn't get forwarded to my email. First make sure he is showing signs of readiness. (go to www.pottytots.com and look under parent's page. If he is ready then try and figure out if he is afraid of something when he goes poop. Some kids are afraid because they are constipated and it hurts. Some kids feel that the poop (since it is solid) is more a part of their body). When he goes in his diaper make sure he comes with you into the bathroom and show him that the poop goes in the potty and flush. He can wave bye bye! You will need to get him out of diapers and into either pull ups or "big boy" underwear. Be patient. He will have accidents until he really understands what is expected of him. Some moms play games like "will it float?" sounds funny but it gets the kids to go in the potty and that is one of the biggest hurdles. Some kids want the security of the diaper and there may be other sibling issues going on. You know your child best. Try all kinds of rewards, but especially lots and lots of praise, hugs, kisses and high fives. Good luck and let me know if I can help any further!

I have 2 boys; my oldest is almost 4 in September & my other son will be 2 next year in January. My oldest son is already fully potty trained. But how I use 2 potty train my oldest is I would have him go without a diaper or underwear throughout the day & he would let me know when he has 2 go or he will just go on his own.Just have him/her wear a tshirt/blouse and a pair of pants or even sometimes n pants. All of the moms who's concern about their kids, you all should give it a try. Let me know if it works out for ya'll..... God Bless (-:

Hi Arianne,

That is totally normal for kids to "hide" when they realize that going to the bathroom is private. They also need to realize this is normal and can be done in the privacy of the bathroom.  My daughter was  also embarrassed and I repected her privacy after I showed her what to do on the potty.  So when we were in the bathroom I would stay with her but turn around when she asked for privacy. When she got a little older I would stand outside the door with it cracked. (letting her know I was there if she needed me)

I hope this helps!

My son is 4 1/2, but he still hides a lot of the time when he needs to go poop. How can I help him desire to go poop on the toilet all of the time?
