My older son is 3 1/2. He has been potty trained for quite some time and hasn't been in a diaper. However he refuses to poop on the potty. He goes in his room puts on a pull up poops and tells us to change him. If I take the pullups away he puts on his baby brothers diapers!! Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried offering a reward...he doesn't really care

That's awesome.  It's such a wonderful feeling when you see your child poop on the potty:)  LOL.  Mine is pooping on the potty but still wants to hold it and get constipated occasionally.  I had to give him Babylax (suppository) Saturday night because he was crying all day about his tummy and butt and hadn't pooped in over 2 days.  It sucked but he felt a lot better afterward.  He's on Miralax once a day and I have no plans to spot it anytime soon after this weekend.  All this makes me not want to have anymore kids.

Hey thanks!!! Before I read this I actually did go for  2 methods.  I made a potty chart and told him that for every time he went poop on the potty he would get a sticker.  After 5 stickers he gets to pick out a toy (at the dollar store).  Then when he went to get a pullup, I told him that I was not going to let him, and it was either go potty or poop in his pants.  He has never had an accident like that...so ididn't think he was going to do it on purpose.  He was stubborn, and it took him about 45 mins, but I looked over and there he was poopn on the potty!!!WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!  We made as big of a deal about it as the inauguration and he hasn't looked back!!! :)

Sounds like it's time for a little tough love.  If he's 3 1/2 he knows exactly what he's doing and he's probably laughing about it at night with his imaginary friends.  First of all I would get rid of the pull ups and put the diapers where he can't reach them.  If he has a fit just let him.  You have to make him realize you are in charge not him.  Also take something away.  For my son it was movies.  I told him no, you can't watch your movie until you make yuckies in the potty.  You'd be suprised how fast he turned around and he's 2 yrs 9 months.  If he poops in his underwear, you better believe he's going to help you clean it up.  When I tried to make my son help me clean up the underwear we sat in the bathroom for 10-15 min until he finally sprayed a little cleaner on them.  He was crying the whole time.  He knows how to pull your strings.  Don't give in to that cute little face.  Oh by the way, he is a cutie.
