I am frustrated! my son prefers to hold his urine until it burns than to use the potty. Any suggestions?

Run the water while he is in the bathroom sitting on the potty, its so hard to not pee while listening to the CHHHH of running water. Otherwise he could have an infection, if it hurts to pee once, then he isn't going to want to do it again. Maybe if it keeps up get a doc appt to check.
