potty training help! 2 1/2 year old boy

my 2 1/2 year old son will not go in the potty! I've tried everything I can think of. he'll do great for a few days then he'll decide to go anywhere but the potty. Sometimes its in his diaper other times he take of his diaper while its dry and go on the floor, or my bed or his bed.
I've ask him periodocially if he needs to go potty and taken him to it, he'll sit for awhile then go somewhere else after he gets up. if i try to make him sit till he goes he starts to cry.
I've given him special toys he can play with on the potty and rewards when he does go potty. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm so frustrated...my husband (his dad) is overseas currently

I would get rid of the diapers completely and just use underwear. That way, if he has to go he has to use the potty or have an accident. I would start out with taking him every 30-45 minutes and gradually increase it.

Try reading him a book so that his mind is off sitting on the toilet and on the story instead. Take him to the toilet every 30 minutes and sit him there and play with him so his mind is on someting else. Put him in undies, he may think because he has a nappy on its ok to wee in it, if he wets his undies just tell him thats ok and next time we will try to make it to the toilet. Get a rewards chart you can send away for one from huggies, and everything he goes to the toilet let him put a sticker on the chart himself. Also give him positive praise and stay positive! Don't let him see you say anything negative or act negative when he doesnt do anything on the toilet. I hope some of this helps, Goodluck!!
