My 19-month-old daughter is showing clear signs that she's ready for potty training. Diapers are always coming off, she's shown interest in her potty and the big potty, etc. I understand that it can be a rather long process and my goal is to have her completely potty trained by the time she is 2 in June because I'd like to start her in daycare. One suggestion was to let her run around naked so she was ready and to have her potty out in the open. I tried that and all she did was cry and holding her behind. So what I'm asking is if there are any tips that I can use that might work with her? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

hey, i had my daughter potty trained fully at night and 80% in the day when she was 18 months but then around 20 months, she stopped progressing, she never went back or anything but she wasnt interested in going at all when we were out in public, if she had friends over or was at a fmialy members house. I blamed it on Christmas approaching and wasnt sure what to do so i let her continue with her routine and right after christmas, i switched to the only big-girl underwear cold turkey for her! it worked great!! :) i wouldnt say that fully naked is the way to go because then you will have to unteach that.you need to make sure your child can pull up their underwear after and that they know to keep them out of the way once on the potty. Also, it is less of a mess to clean the first few accidents and i think we can all agree that going while youre naked v.s wearing soiled underwear would obviously make the child unvomfortable so they would want to tell you as well. I bought a 10 pk of cheap cotton undwear and i lay out afew and let her pick which ones she wants to wear each day. the first day she had a poo accident and 3 pee accidents in total and since, only 1 accident and it was more my fault because i didnt get her to the potty when she first asked me (i work from home) so after that, everything has gone smoothly and i only threw out the one pair. Now she hs 9 pairs of underwear to choose from and she loves them! she never goes at night and when we are out she holds it til we are home and will occasionally go in a public toilet but she highly prefers peoples homes :P hope this helps!

Try keeping the diaper off, but put her in a long shirt or dress so she's covered. Maybe she won't feel so exposed that way. We also put on leg warmers- that way she can run to the potty & doesn't have to pull anything off, but she's still mostly dressed. It definitely sounds like she's ready to me. Keep it up. Sometimes it does take a while, but you'll get there. My son took 8 months (started him at 20 months) but my daughter (who started at 16 months) only took 2 weeks (diaper off). All kids are different, but totally capable of potty training earlier than most people think!

My little boy is almost 2, just started pull ups and my son doesn't like them. What other ideas would work for potty training

I started my son at 18 months and he was excited to start going to the potty. We went out and I let him pick the potty of his choice we got it home and I thought ok we are going to do this. I put him in pull ups and no more pampers. We lasted for 2 weeks then he didnt want nothing to do with it. At first I place him on the potty every hour and he went, I just never was able to get him to do number 2. So I backed off but I didnt put him back in pampers I kept him in pull ups. Then when he ask for the potty I place him on it when he went I through a party not really, but I was like way to go and clapping and he like it. So when he ask I place him on it I just never push him. He is now 31 months and he has finally got the hang of. He goes by himself number 1 & 2. Sometimes he slips out but I just dont mention it. He is still in pull ups on days after he has done number 2 I can put him in under wears and he will be fine all day even during nap time. So just let take her time.

Try finding ways to play with her or put the diaper on the potty without "putting" it on the potty?

Thanks for the input. My daughter will sit on the potty but just a few hours ago she refused to let me help her or take her diaper off. She sits on the potty and goes potty in her diaper while on it. My boyfriend thinks she's too young but she's already so independent I'm afraid she won't cooperate at all the longer I wait plus I'd like to put her in daycare once fall rolls around.

With my son who is also 19 months he was the same way at first. He didn't want to sit on the potty. After a while I got him in routine. First thing in the morning he got on the potty. I would keep him there for abt 15 mins. And after each meal he went on the potty. Soon he knew the routine and now does it on his own. Soon we'll master bed time. After almost 2 months we're almost fully potty trained. Just stay persistant. She'll get the hang of it soon. Good Luck!
