Rash from underwear

My son has eczema, which i've known for 3yrs now, but we started potty training and I'd like to think of him as trained. BUT, he has a rash all around where the underwear sit. I washed them before he wore them, in the same detergent as all his other clothes, ALL Free and Clear. I thought at 1st it was the "character" underwear from all the ink. So i put the tighty whiteys on and a week later he is still all rashy. The underwear are 100% cotton and that's what his Dermatologists tells me to put on him cuz polyester is too warm. So if anyone can help me out with this it would be great. Thanks

My daughter gets the same thing on her bottom I still put her in pullups at night so before bed at potty time we put Vaseline on it and in the morning it's gone or barely there. Good Luck.

you may need to change detergents. There are some that are used for cloth diapers (like Charlie's soap, or allen's naturally) that rinse completely out of diapers to leave no residue. You may be getting some detergent that isn't rinsing out and because underwear doesn't move away from the body as much as other clothing, perhaps that is irritating him. Sorry I can't be more help, but thus far we haven't had any troubles since potty training (though we had weekly rashes before that...and that's why we started cloth diapering...we used charlies soap, and now allen's naturally because the charlie's soap wasn't working with our hard water.) Hope that helps.
