Should I try it now or Wait it out?

My son turns 2 near the end of November, and my second son is due near the beginning of November. Matty is showing some signs that he is ready, I just don't know whether to try and get it started or if I should just wait it out and start when all the excitement of the new baby passes. Also, he just started to sleep in his toddler bed so there is another big change. I don't want to throw too much at him at once and end up with a four year old in diapers....Help!

Thank you much for the advice...We are going to wait. Well, as much as we can. He is trying on his own to use the potty so we are kind of just letting him do what he wants and not putting any pressure on him..

I'd wait. Even if you miraculously get him in undies before the baby comes, odds are good he's going to revert and you'll have to do it all over again, but this time frustrated because you know he CAN. lol

I had the same problem with my first son, Adam. I wanted him potty trained before the new baby came so we could save some money. I tried and he almost got the hang of it until i was in the hospital for three days. So i just waited about two months after Jeremy was born and started all over again. Taking care of a newborn is enough work in itself let alone trying to potty train a toddler. I didnt want a four year old in diaper either and luckily we had him potty trained before his third birthday. Later than i wanted but they have to do it when they are ready. I hope this help a little. :)
