So my almost 1 1/2 year old is curious about the potty. He is very smart so I don't doubt he will master it before he is 2 but as with most kids that I have been part of lives of he likes to open the lid and pee next to the potty........ How do I get a one year old to sit and pee on the potty instead of next to it? Also he is the one to pull the diaper down and back up.....lol

I would start by sitting him on it every 30 minutes, you will catch a few pees every now and then. Praise him when he tries but praise more when he goes. Don't ask him if he needs to go (the answer will be no), just take him. Switch to underwear or cloth training pants and do not go back to a diaper (you can still use one for naps/bed). Have a little potty right there next to him, to keep him on the potty, give him a toy to look at, a book to look through, or stickers to stick to his legs.
I know it is very possible to potty train this early, my daughter was trained at 15 months and hasn't regressed (because I wont let her). Never give up, just keep working with him.
