Hello I'm Bron; Aussie single mum of 4. I have toilet trained my two eldest children. My son (now 12) practically toilet trained himself around 2 years old. It took a week and he was out of nappies (using only the old style training pants for sleep time) and only a little while longer before he was 100% toilet trained. In all these years he has only wet the bed twice (once because he was sick and once because he was extremely stressed with a family break-up). MY daughter (6 years) took longer (but that was because we had a lot of tumoil in our lives at that time; i was pregnant and then we moved interstate and then there was a family break-up) so she took a couple of months to be fully toilet trained (around 3 years).
The son that I am toilet training this week is almost 4 and I have had very little success with him. He can use the potty and toilet. He can tell me when he is going to do something and when he has done something but most times he prefers to do it in his nappy/trainers. So after trying a few different methods I purchased an ebook from ebay about toilet training in 3-4 days. I have made plans to stay at home for the next few days. I have stocked up on stickers & treats for rewarding him when he goes to the potty etc. I have stocked up on undies and towels. We have a range of activities planned (mostly indoor as it's raining); craft, reading, letter writing, baking, Wii, a movie and more. We are stocked up on healthy snacks and meals so that we don't have to go into town unless it's an emergency. The ebook says to start him off without clothes or at least without undies but as he has some control I have him in undies and singlet and t-shirt and we will see how he goes. I am using a timer too to remind us both. My daughter will be helping out too (as I also have a 10 week old baby that needs attention).
I'll check back in to reprot our progress. We are making this out to be a fun time too :)
