My son will be two next month and I think he's ready to start potty training, for the last three or four months he regularly takes off his nappy and wees and poos on the floor.

The only problem is he hasn't got as many developed communication skills as a lot of other 2 year olds, I'm not worried my view is he will develop when he develops, but how can I start potty training if he doesn't understand what I'm asking him to do????

with my son who is 19 months he doesn't talk much yet but understands somewhat, we bought big boy undies and he has accidents but we are off to a good start!

What I did was buy a potty and at bath time every night I would sit him on the potty and tell him to try and pee in the potty eventually he did. After a while I started putting him on it after he woke up from naps and in the morning since this is the most frequent times they pee. When I went hard core into potty training I tried pull-ups but the didn't work for me so I put big boy undies on him and with in a week he was potty trained. Good luck. This is a very time consuming process but in the end it worth it.
