What age can you expect to stop using training pants at night?

My daughter is 31/2 and when she takes naps & goes to bed at night we keep her in training pants... I have done naps w/o before, but she only does well half the time. How do I go about getting her out of them all together? She's big for her age and they almost don't fit anymore.

Mine is 3, one friday night I ran out of pull ups,(but I told her before that one was the last one ever) so I decided not to go buy any and try. We made her go before we went to bed that night and a miracle apend she dint wet the bed, its been 2 weeks and no accident. I was realy suprised because she would still flod a pull up during the night sometimes. I think since she new we really dint have any she dint have a choice. good luck

I've never used anything like pull ups or special diapers. Once we made the move to undies, we stayed there. sure there have been accidents at night, a few middle of the night adventures stripping the beds and washing the bed clothes, but for the most part I think it's the best way to go. I've always thought pull ups sent a mixed message, like I expect you to pee in the potty, but if you don't sometimes it's okay .... but if you do use them, I guess it would be the same as undies. just figure out how late is too late for liquids, and cut them out. no drinks an hour before bedtime worked for my daughter and son, and of course the mandatory trip to the potty before bed. Good luck!

Thanks for the help! I do usually keep her from drinking about an hour before bed, but she still goes sometimes... Is this the right age to be trying to get results? I just figured we can't keep buying diapers forever...

Before she naps or goes to bed, make it a habit to have her use the potty, just before she goes to bed. Granted you will still have accidents every now & then, but the emptier her bladder is the better. Don't give her anything to drink before her nap or bedtime.

I know with most of us, we got in the habit of letting them "drink" themselves to sleep. The more we keep feeding that habit, the more likely you'll have a child that will constantly wet the bed b/c it's what they are use to.

If this is something you do for her, be warned she will probably be unhappy at the thought of not having that "bottle". But stand your ground, children will never learn a process, unless we're willing to enforce it.

Toddler 411 says when they wake up dry for a month straight you can stop using training pants.
