How have others responded to this question? I hate it when people ask me it- almost like I am not doing my duty as a parent. My daugher is almost 3 and occasionally uses the potty. We reward her when she does. The problem is she has trouble with her bowles. She getts constipated easily due to a lot of food sensitivities. The doctor has us giving her stool softner every day and an anema once a month. This causes her pain, stinging and diaper rash. As most kids would, she associates these feelings with going to the potty. So is afraid to poop. I know that she will get it in time (my son wasn't trained until about 3 1/2). Its the constant critism from others that really hurts. I need some snappy comebacks to shut people up so that I don't have to respond by giving them her whole health history. - please help!!!

no snappy come backs, just tell them she will do it when she is ready. If you try to push her to do it before then she will get scared of the potty and take even longer.. Let them know you are letting her be a little bit independent on this one. It's not about when you want her to go it's about when she wants to go!
